That looks great. Can’t wait for mine to arrive. Says it will be here Wednesday. I tried to land the rayquaza color. Missed it. Went back and through the arcanine in the cart. Missed that one. Luckily i was still able to get the jigglypuff after all that.
Today’s throw is a blue Duncan Raptor:
Boy, do I like this little guy! Before my stint of only throwing the Sliver for a couple of weeks, I found it fun to throw but a little challenging when the string wasn’t exactly on-axis. After spending that time with the Sliver, my accuracy has improved somewhat. So I’m able to deal with that issue a lot better and that has increased the enjoyment I get from throwing this. Its diameter is 52.8mm, so I guess that makes it an undersized organic. It’s an older yoyo and the last update was released long before I got back into throwing again in 2021. Unfortunately, YYE only had the silver and blue in stock, so that’s what I have. From the pictures, the red colorway looks really good. Too bad there aren’t any of those available, or I’d get one in a heartbeat.
Saw @adamantiumpops’s Gunpla and I had to get a pic with my current throw next to both of mine!
They certainly kept me busy through the ice storm last week, haha.
I’ve been throwing my modded AlleyCat pretty much everyday since I got it last week, working on my modern responsive skills for Fixed Axle February.
Hypnoswirl is a cool idea. Not sure if it will take due to UHMWPE hacind such low surface energy.
It’s amazing! I love it.
Playing the guitarist today.
Edit: I already liked this throw because of the way it felt/played. But I felt like it lacked a bit of spintime compared to some of my other throws. So I swapped out the bearing to a Mazal Top hybrid one. (And cleaned the original bearing)…it’s like a whole new throw now. Actually delivering the performance I was expecting. (It actually has spin time left after performing a Seismic Slam with Monkey Madness in the middle. Before swapping bearings the spin would be almost dead at the end of that).
Aren’t those Legend Wings?
Legends never die… well mostly. I’ve been keeping this one around because I figured at some point drilling out the axle and gluing in a new one in would be a fun project/experiment.
I have a broken one laying around that I want to eventually do an A bearing Mod too with some Duncan spacers.
Oh wow, I’d be really curious about the results from that. Wood bearing yoyos seem kind of wild to me.
I love metal axle butterflies, so I was probably going to see if I could get a 5 or 6mm brass or aluminum rod to use as an axle.
