A – I appreciate you taking the time to do this interview! So what were the expectations of the product during the design of this signature model?
E – Well the idea behind the design of the yoyo was just to make a yoyo that would cater to the needs of 3a players. So I wanted something really angular and balanced. Also something with tons of rim weight to add onto the spin time.
A - What are the differences between the 2012 and 2013 models?
E – The difference between the 2012 and the 2013 is the weight and gap of the yoyo. The 2013 is a much wider and a little bit heavier than the 2012. This kinda turned from a 3a specific yoyo, to something much more versatile and can handle any 1a and 5a tricks.
A – What type of player would you recommend this model to?
E – I’d recommend this to anyone. The yoyo comes in 7 different colors so everyone is going to find a color they’ll like. The shape is pretty comfortable in the hand so it can cater everyone’s needs.
A – What is your favorite aspect of this model?
E – I really like everything about the yoyo because I had the opportunity to sit down with Stu and work on this yoyo every step of the way, but the best thing about the yoyo is definitely the shape and size. The yoyo is a hefty 57mm in diameter but it feels much smaller than that in the hand, and it’s shape is super simple so there are no gimmicks to the yoyo it’s just pure performance.
The Tre is initially presented in a simple translucent box with the Werrd logo printed on the top and back. The side of the box includes six humorous cautionary messages including a small parts advisory and pheromone warning. Open the top panel of the box and you’ll find the Tre. This model features a steep profile; the top of the rim starts the gentle curve into a bend which drops dramatically into the gap of the yoyo which immediately meets the response system. There are no gimmicks here. The side of the yoyo features precise laser engravings with text of “Tranton – 2K13 – Tre – Werrd Alliance”. On the yoyo’s hub you’ll find an engraved “T” and the other side the Werrd logo. This particular colorway is called “Grape Soda”. The purple is deep and appealing, and the splashes really show the beauty of the 7075 aluminum which shines brilliantly around the body and hub. The Tre is very flashy and attractive and looks great while spinning or at rest.

The body is constructed of high quality 7075 aluminum; perfect for anyone conscious of damage from external sources. This yoyo will last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance. With the Tre you can expect big things from a seemingly small package. The yoyo stands tall at 57mm at its rim, but because of the dramatic angle of the profile it feels much smaller in the hand. The profile also affects how the model feels while on the string; most of its 67 grams is packed on the rim so it can achieve a nimble, athletic feel while still remaining stable at lower RPM’s. Compared to other models, the Tre can still perform large pinwheel-like tricks at lower RPM’s and still return to the hand using its CBC K-pads. This is crucial for competitive play at any level, and the Tre delivers. The Tre on a string can be described as solid, but it does not have the lifeless, dull aspect other solid yo-yos can be described with. The high rim weight percentage combined with a nimble profile blend perfectly and create a feeling that cannot be achieved with an oversized yoyo without sacrificing performance. This model will fall short in spin time when it compares to heavier oversized yo-yos. Horizontal play is where the Tre pulls away from the rest of the pack; the profile and weight is perfect for difficult horizontal catches and binds, and the yoyo is stable enough to maintain position through a miss.
