V shaped yoyos (update on my opinions)

I recently posted a thread about my experience with V shaped yoyos and how I personally wondered whether knots occurred the most out of this particular shape. Being a lover of H shaped yoyos, I find this to be true with V’s the most. Regardless of the specifics, or whether this is actually true, I never intended to cause divisions. However, I want to set the record straight after some users inferred it was a “skill issue” and a “me” problem. Here’s a video of me doing some tricks. I don’t claim to be a professional, but I have two years of solid playing under my belt. Anyway, I apologize and hope for future posts to remain positive. AGAIN, I AM SORRY  Have a wonderful day. https://youtu.be/dNB35UvqsxQ?si=dG1gMu2WofZZQ-J9

I glanced at the thread earlier (it must have been before any disagreements started).

But yeah, I remember thinking that the number of people commenting “skill issue” was a little excessive. I think its perfectly understandable to struggle between very different yoyo shapes. Especially if you’re mainly throwing organics, the “zero wall profile” of most V shapes is a very different beast.

I think your trick video confirms this. You have some really cool tricks, and certainly are capable of throwing/binding like a pro. If you’re getting a lot more axle knots and issue from V shape yoyos, its definitely worth noting, given your competence. Its not as if you have no idea what you’re doing, and would be getting knots all the time anyway, haha.

Thanks for the trick video, I really enjoyed watching it, and keep up the good work!

(That horizontal palm grind DNA was siiiick…)

I appreciate your open-mindedness. I have “noted” my opinions on V shapes and believe everyone has their own preference. I am slowly gravitating towards organics with the Reboot and Bolt XP. I really appreciate you watching my video. Yeah, I am getting better with palm grinds. Have a good day.

Bro, your tricks are sick! You have so many complex formations going on it’s insane. Great vid, it’s your best yet and what’s up with those sweet picture tricks. Keep it up.

You’re just posting your experience with the V-shape and that’s OK. I think with all those complex configurations, the V-shape just funnels all your string to a huge knot and very quick. Maybe the organic shape is a little more forgiving with your style of play.

Huge ups!!

Thanks brother! It feels so good to get validation and respect from another player. Yeah, my original post was merely an opinion about V shapes. Glad you enjoyed my video, man. Have a nice one.

The Reboot is nice. You should check out the Diorama, the Zero by At Design Lab, and the Pomodoro from Atmos. Among many, many others of course. Oh yeah, and the Unicorn is an amaaaaazing organic V. Might be a good segue.

I was recently sooo close to purchasing a Diorama but chose the Thorn for better performance. My collection is mostly H shapes. I have a Top Yo T.R.Y. that is an organic shaped like a Duncan Freebird. But yeah, thanks.

this would be a lot more impressive if the tricks were done on a V shaped yoyo

Nice set you can throw, thanks for sharing. I love that last picture trick with the ladder mount inversion. That is a fun trick real crowd pleaser.

nice tricks. but i’d love to see a clip of you getting one of those knots you say you get on v shaped yoyos just to confirm its not a skill issue. You being 2 years into yoyo doesnt meant a whole lot. I’ve seen probably the most skilled and creative yoyo player in the world have issues of snagging on relatively simple tricks, and such many similar cases for other players and tricks. We all have areas of yoyo that we havent perfectly ironed and cleanliness and snag control is just another one of them.

Thanks a lot! I can do Mr.Matio’s Ladder Combo as you can see, but I do it differently. I do two reps of Bever Climbs the Ladder repeater than do mrmatio’s trick. But instead of sliding and dropping to the right after inverting the formation (which sets you up in a double GT eventually, I slide back to the left and dismount from regular GT instead. I teach it on my channel

Those are some impressive tricks, great job showing off a V shape yoyo! I still think v shaped yoyos are bad for looping though.

Thanks for watching. I’m actually using an H shaped Halo yoyo by yoyofactory. It’s my preferred shape for general play. I believe in trick diversity, which really shows what a yoyo is capable of!
