Hello all, I’ve been seeing buyers posting beware post for others to look out for possible scams. Today I will hopefully spread awareness to the danger in believing positive feedback threads. My troubles started when a yoyo I ordered from @EdDude came in and wasn’t quite as described. I was initially looking for a mint example of an edge beyond in turquoise and gold, praise be, @EdDude provides just as his feedback page says. But my excitement was cut short as soon as the throw came in and what was described as “Perfect”, wasn’t perfect at all. My normal procedure for receiving 2nd hand throws is as such; I immediately take pictures or every angle, check bearing status, and bearing seat and axle wear. After taking account of everything wrong with the yoyo( A lot for a “Perfect” yoyo), I concluded that it wasn’t as described. I immediately sent @EdDude pics of everything wrong and he immediately went to accusations of lies and deceit. Once he understood that what he sent was a farcry from what he described in his FS post, he admitted he hadn’t taken the time to inspect or throw the yoyo in quite some time, but still posted it as “perfect/mint”. Instead of offering a refund he offered a trade out, which in my opinion is fine, but I couldn’t accept knowing he currently owes me a perfect yoyo. So I stood firm wanting a refund. Now that we are up to date, he has ghosted me for a week and hasn’t responded to the paypal refund dispute. Seeing peoples stories of waiting too long for the original seller to try and get money for a refund has me worried as the buyers are usually SOL for waiting so long. Are there any ideas you all have to try and get my money back. Thanks.
EDIT: I want to add I’m 99% sure this was a mistake/accident on his part, but it depends on how we take care of accidents/mistakes like this that determine our character.
So confusing. I had a similar experience to start with him but it ended differently. I ordered a mint yoyo, the yoyo I got was damaged. I told him hey the yoyo is damaged. He immediately refunded me.
I’ve only had great experiences with @EdDude. I’m also not going to speak for him or make excuses for him but I’ll point out he (and many others) tend to sell throws on here when they need the cash for something else. The challenge with that will be when disputes come up. It may take a minute to get the money for a refund.
Hoping this has a positive resolution for all involved.
Not my experience at all with @EdDude. I would still do trades sell and or buy from @EdDude because my experience was the complete opposite. I hope you can get a satisfactory resolution to your dispute. I have had similar disappointing experiences with throws I have purchased and got the SOL response it does not feel good. I expect you will get an appropriate resolution.

I have dealt extensively with @EdDude with some high end throws and will say that he has always treated me well. I have experienced slow response times but my understanding is that he underwent surgery in the back half of 2024 that has made his time not as free as it used to be. I hope you get your issue resolved soon!
Ed will come through. As others have mentioned, Ed typically pops back up on here when hes selling stuff, so it can occasionally be sporadic. While i completely understand the frustration, he always comes through. Ive probably bought more from ed than I have anyone else on here combined(literal thousands of dollars, the guy has good taste in yoyos), and he has yet to let me down, so just give him a little time and I’m sure he’ll get this rectified.
Ed will likely come through, I once accidentally sent him money via PayPal instead of the person I meant to. Once he logged on, he immediately refunded the money. Not something he had to do, but was the morally right thing. Like someone else said, it is sporadic when he is online.
To add, if you have already opened a dispute on PayPal, it will resolve in your favor if there is no action if you used G&S. They rarely favor the merchant
I’m sorry you had a negative experience with Ed. I’ve done a few deals and it was all positive without any issues. That’s not meant to demean your experience but more a hope that it will get fixed.
