I would (perhaps pedantically) argue it’s not unnecessary but rather a fundamental part of the trick given its origin:

How easy to understand is this tutorial I made?

FYI both the CLYW tutorial and you are not doing the intro correctly. The trick is based on Kamikaze and you’re missing that upwards pop into the top string and the pop afterwards when you release before going around your wrist.
