for what it’s worth, for the looooongest time (like 1 month+) i was so confused with that section of specifically that tutorial because it felt over-explained and so much was going on. for me, the top-down view of clyw’s tutorial helped a lot (even though it was still kind of hard to see what was happening)
one important thing that i realized was that when i poke my nonthrowhand index through (the first step), the thumb gets inserted in to hold up that section of string while i underpass
and as i underpass, my throwhand index comes up conveniently right under that piece of string i need to pluck. when i pluck that, i can drop the thumb because it no longer needs to hold the string up
for me, making that connection was key to understanding the motion and smoothing it out
i can get to that part and drop the thumb, then rotate throw hand around.. then the next bit, the mount is where i get totally turned around. i’ll go back and check the clyw video again thanks!
I think i had a ton of trouble with that part… i kept confusing what to do with my hands and fingers. Not sure how i made sense of it but i tried to show the steps here. Hopefully this helps. After you pluck the string with your TH index and come around with your TH i turn my hand down and grab the string with my TH pinky, then hop and pluck.
If this confused the issue i apologize in advance.
Luckily my shoulders getting better ( I think it was because I was throwing a light throw for a while then I went to heavier ones, but idk) but puting some time into the most recent one with some free time in class was fun! A very fun trick picked very well!
i guess one of the benefits to having thrown for less than a year is i have yet for an injury or life to prevent me from throwing when i want. that just sounds tortuous! not looking forward to the inevitable. when i used to do electrical work i tore my hands up near daily. I’ve thought how that would have sucked. i would have had to turn into mr. bandaid. glad it seems to be getting better, though, and that you’re getting some time in again
Got a great suggestion a few weeks ago to run a tut from Jeremy as a sendoff for RCS. Jeremy has been amazing for growing yoyo and getting young ppl into the hobby and hopefully he will continue to for years to come.
Not much to say about this one up front so here it is!
Yo this was a fun trick to learn! I funked with it a bit. Also im pretty sure the original is an Andre Boulay trick but im not 100% sure about that. Either way shoutout @AndreBoulay
I thought And Whut was a Jason Lee trick but I may be wrong. It’s the opening trick of this video of Jason doing a bunch of his tricks. Either way it’s a fun trick to learn and get smooth.
