i’ve actually been working on yuuki slack on and off for like a month now? there are sooooo many more guides for it now than back in the day. also still trying to get bb26 trick 47 to flow better/more consistently. everyone works at their own pace i guess, haha
here are some of my sloppy but okay-ish attempts of yuuki slack. i still need to learn how to exit cleanly. atm i’m just repeating it until i fail, lol
some tips that helped me:
it really is similar to tricks like boingy boing where having a good rhythm and keeping the yoyo rotating around on a straight axis is important
in order to keep the straight axis, i find trying to move the non-throwhand as subtly as possible, just enough to get the yoyo to rotate. once i get the momentum, it’s easier to keep it moving and to move my hand as little as possible
at first i kind of just stuck my throwhand index finger out and tried to look at where the loop was landing, and then adjusted the finger accordingly. alternate pointing up and down – again, there’s a rhythm to it
some tips on bb26 trick 47 that helped me:
i realized that trying to rotate the yoyo in full circles makes plucking wayyyyy harder than it should be. aiming to pause the yoyo at 10 o’clock above the throwhand gives more time to pluck the string out with the non-throwhand
the plucking also should give the yoyo enough extra momentum to continue the rotation even though it hangs for a tiny bit at 10 o’clock
as with all tricks probably, slowing down the movements also gives more time to pluck/do stuff
I’m also going to include this other tutorial Jamie made because I think it’s also cool. The first one is pretty easy to do, but might take a second to figure out a satisfying flow. The second one is less easy but not insanely difficult. Please ask any questions that come up!
Weeks later, I’m finally starting to land the takeshi switchbacks trick. Still doing something wrong on the BB27. Progress is being made and fun is being had!
Mumbo jumbo took me a bit to get down what fingers I wanted to use for it. I’m definitely using my thumb more/differently, but it feels way smoother doing it like this for me.
For the other one, once he referenced ninja vanish I figured I’d try starting it from a magic drop.
Got it! The slack movement is a little sloppy but I’m happy with this. I noticed mumbo jumbo puts you in a wrist mount type thingy that sets you up for a nice rejection into GT so I ended it with that!
