That’s lamo, man.
man I want those now.
There was this ferrari f1 technics that I always wanted as a kid, $200 was so much though. My nephew is lucky to be blessed with all the technics he could ask for.
still a metal body… perfect for a laceration when tumbling at kids’ speed
I still have one of those stashed somewhere at my parents’ house. The Tonka truck that is…not the halfpipe.
My son’s Tonka trucks were stored in my shed until his son was born. Then they went to his house. Unfortunately the kid lives on his tablet and they sit unused…
In 30 years there will be a thread titled “What app did you want as a kid but never got?”
A guitar…bought one the other day and wonder why I ever wanted one, oh well…
I’ve gotten all of them I wanted. That’s what adulting is!
Of course C. Jung said it better…
Passion aka desire.
Mine was a fast and competition worthy R/C car! I’ve had several now. I’ve placed on podiums with them too. From buggies, to truggies, to monster trucks. It’s all kid fun!
It’s the fun stuff like that, that’s really worth having. Now buy a cheap stand and put it on display in the living room. And then cover it with yoyo stickers.
Not exactly what I didn’t get but there were several things I wanted as a kid that ended up being the big surprise either for birthday or Christmas…
The Gameboy - my sister got one a little while before I got one. I played hers and really wanted one of my own as it was quite the upgrade from those Tiger handhelds I’d occasionally get. One Christmas (1993) I got my own Gameboy with Home Alone, Batman, Burgertime Deluxe, and Sneaky Snakes. I still have that Gameboy today with those games.
Rollerblades - as a kid I had those Fisher Price “over the shoe” roller skates with the noisy and slippery plastic orange wheels. One birthday I got a pair of regular quads with actual rolling wheels/bearings. Nothing high end but for a kid, it was a huge upgrade. Of course, growing up, they eventually got too small. I then saw that rollerblades were a thing. My sister who had also recently outgrew her skates got a pair of blades. I tried them on and found myself stable enough on them that I ended up bugging my parents to get some. Eventually got them for either Christmas or a birthday. Again, quite the upgrade.
The last big highlight for me was getting a Talk Boy - that tape recorder as seen in Home Alone 2. Home Alone 2 was a childhood favorite (along with the original) and today, they become an annual movie to watch every holiday season. As a kid, I watched them year round, knew practically every line in that movie. Naturally, the Talk Boy was a must. Ended up getting it for the birthday and not long after, I was on the road to annoying my sister by sneaking up and recording her and speeding up the pitch of her voice after.
I loved burger time!
A Johnny Seven.
