I see that na unknown borealis is coming out tomorrow and I wanted to see what people thought of it.
It gives Turning Point vibes to me visually/spec wise.
It plays very solid/heavy at a relaxed pacing, very stable iirc. I have one from the original release and it’s never been a favourite personally tbh.
My favorite yoyo, feels like a slightly slower and denser Quercus, but with a more aggressive response. Very nice consistent feeling to the pacing. I have one of the OGs and a bootleg, very tempted to try and grab an Unknown so I have a blasted one.
Really glad they ran these back and that the response for the blue drop was so positive.
it’s interesting they’re continuing the trend with sticking to the B1 specs for this upcoming drop, wonder why
Because this run was to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Zach’s 2015 worlds win, and they were using a proto Borealis 1. This drop is from the same run as the blue ones.
Interesting, since the CLYW site describes it as “light and fast” which I thought was odd given the weight and design. Guess I’ll have to try one for myself!
I got the recent blue one and I really like it after playing with it for a while. It lends itself to a more relaxed chill kind of play in my opinion.
My only negative (and this could just be a one off for mine) is that initially the response was way too grippy. It snagged on a lot of tricks that I normally don’t have an issue with. And if it got off center it would get a really strong pulsating string vibe. After a few days of play I think the response wore down and it doesn’t have that issue anymore.
That’s just the new snow tires probably.
i can never get a true idea of how something will play for me until i rip the pads out and put permatex in. new yoyo gets thrown for a day or two then it’s time for surgery
These newer orange snow tires seem to be dogwater and are slightly too thick. You can see even see them protruding in promo photos lol. Buy a tube of silicone or some replacement snow tires, I like the CLYW sized Sochi pads if you have to use pads. It’s a bit annoying but that’s just how pads be sometimes.
