The YYF JK

OMG!!! REALLY??? A DEVO teaching? WoW. I had no idea. Can’t wait til the next 80’s party to tell people this hehe.

Well the Whip is 56.2 grams and the JK is 64, so you’re gonna feel it heavy at first. But compared to other metals, it’s on the lighter side of the scale.

I suppose if all the readers on this thread would like a metal Whip too, and agree to write YYF under Feedback, they might make a metal Whip as a Fundametal within a calendar year. After all, they made a metal Protostar.

Ok…off topic but here he is. Mark Mothersbaugh on Yo Gabba Gabba

WoW… Yep, It’s him alright. Thx for the link!

Oh this thing feels different. Little bit smaller than the Whip. Deff. heavier. Different shape. I am going to have to get used to it. Very slight vibe but thats right out of box. Will try to give it a better workout a little later. I don’t think I have to clean the bearing just by its feel right now.

Just a quick word of advice to anyone with a jk. Flowable silicone. If you have never applied flowable silicone to a yoyo I recommend finding a video on youtube, or another topic in the forums. I was “meh” on the jk stock. Cleaned the bearing, flowable silicone, and boom. Magic.

OK. I just got done throwing it around a bit. It has the body mass I want so I don’t think the weight is my problem. I think it is the shape. It feels weird throwing it out. I don’t feel like I am throwing with authority like I do with the plastics. I love the shape of the Whip so maybe a DV888 might have been a better choice for me. I am still keeping the JK as it is not a bad throw so far. I can probably get used to the shape in time. I will probably clean the bearing tomorrow. Binds are doing good right now so not going to mess with the pads. Hey, for the price though, it was a nice deal.

Yes that’s what makes it all good. the price. I paid over 90 bucks to get that shape in the Spyy Supra. I think what bothers u is the v shaped catch zone. But you’ll get it. I was already used to the shape because i had the Supra and the Pro and the God tricks etc before the JK.

The Dv888 is heavier yet and offers a much fuller feel in the hand, so you’ll probably like that one even more.

Thanks for adding the tips!!

Well, this JK came with the weird bearing so I just took the one out of my Whip and it feels smooth now. The Weird bearing, I gave it a Lighter fluid bath without de-sheilding, shake and bake for a few minutes and threw it in the Whip. Feels fine in the Whip now. I will probably order a couple of Center traks or 10 balls sometime since i have no spares in that size.

Hmm that’s odd…

If you get a new bearing I would go for the 10-Ball I like those they feel much smoother but the Center Tracs don’t seem to feel any different to me.

10 balls are nice. I like center tracks except for how loud they are. Anyway good luck…

Centertracs are loud. And when they make the loud spinning noise, I fwel like I’m killing the bearing. Hate centertracs

The JK is going to become my wife’s throw. I just can’t throw strong with that profile. I ordered 2 different metal profiles with one being similar to the Whip but a little larger in size. I just like a fuller feel. My Wife loves the JK’s feel though.

It is deff. not a bad throw as I am working on tricks that the Whip would not make it through (I tried after doing them with the JK). The JK can do it.

What’s up! You’re right, the JK is really good. The JK can take your wife up to Master, It really can do it all. I know because I use it for practicing those tricks when I don’t throw my Uroboros, or Pyro 3 or Superstar for example (which I throw sparingly anyway). That’s what really impressed me about it. But the form is a subjective thing. Anyway Best of luck with your new choices!!
