The Yoyo Archive 2026

Hello, all!

Rob here, Curator of The Yoyo Archive.

2025 was a great year for the Archive, though the end of the year was a bit quiet due to personal things going on.

Now that 2026 is here, here are new set goals for the Archive (some carried over from last year):

  • Gather more stories!

  • Make more industry connections

  • Contribute more to the community

  • Set up a stable flow of information to the Archive

  • Find “staff” contributors

  • Get an up-to-date event calendar up and running

If you’re a yo-yo brand and want representation on the Archive, reach out to me! Other than just cataloging your throws, I’d love to set up communication so the Archive can be a solid outlet for yo-yo news and reviews of new and upcoming throws.

If you’d like to help keep the Archive up and running, you can donate via our Liberapay account.

Thank you to everyone who has helped the Archive grow!

-Rob

Got a couple more reviews to go up this weekend. The MK1 Laze and the MK1/Yoyofriends Heron.

If you’re interested in getting anything reviewed on the Archive, hit me up!

Does the Heron have a thumb grind lip?

Yup! The PC rim allows for some smooth thumb grinds.

Life, as usual, gets in the way, but more updates are on their way, included a few reviews!

Site rebrand and redevelopment are starting today! Rebuilding the site from the ground up (code-wise.)

Ohh curious what the plan is (how it’s hosted and coded and such )

It’s hosted on IONOS, along with the Throw-Yo site.

The site is in WordPress, and when I took it over, I quickly slapped Divi on it to get custom content up (yuck.)

The new design will be a bit more cozy, and will be a custom theme, with custom plugins, Tailwind 4, and native React blocks.

Awesome yeah react and tailwind are the base of the DMVT website: I’m excited to see the modern look when your done

Here’s a sneak peak

I’m breaking SO much of the site as I dig into this. Finding better ways to link things together.

lol that’s like the YoYo map i18n translation stuff. Every attempt made the site more complex and broke links I wasn’t even aware I broke till someone reported it

The new site is live! Also, The Yoyo Archive is now back on Instagram.

There’s still a BUNCH of cleanup I need to do on the new site, but it’s functional!

On mobile the burger menu doesn’t show up properly when it drops down. Also several brands/YoYo’s images are blank.

Looks good just reporting the first few things I noticed

There’s LOTS of blank images right now. I need to go through and add them to the backlog of items. Some filters aren’t working yet, too.

Lots more to do, but it was stable enough!

Thanks for the heads up about the menu

A lot of little tweaks up on the site. I’m still working on filling in images and migrating some data from the previous setup.

Some pretty major additions to the Archive over the past few days. More on the way!
