@persson, watch @anmo around the bst, he has obsessively compulsively good taste too…
What are the first two of the second line?
(My mom! how many Flying Hut! … I would like one too!)
Edit… Sorry, You have one Flying, right?
Those are two G3Ts. I think only 8 were prototyped, but @HVizier can correct me if that’s off.
The display is, from top to bottom, left to right:
Row 1: 2x battosai, 2x Ti walker, 2x SADR
Row 2: 2x G3T, 2x raw Vayder, 2x Flying Hutt
Row 3: 2x Moonwalker, 2x grey Vayder, 2x Septopus
Row 4: 2x Skywalker, 2x black Vayder, 2x Skywalker
I believe the 2 skywalkers on the left are c bearings and the two on the right are d bearings, but I’d have to double check. I rotate other vs Newtons I have in a different case in and out with these to mix it up once in a while.
G3T! Very true, I had practically forgotten them!
Yes correct, left C, right D (banana and retro rewind)
I didn’t recognize the last Flying, it seems to have a pointed hub, I thought it was a sectopus but now I better know the groove on the rim.
Thanks a lot of the clarifications!
However, the Health’s lathe-machinist must have it out of habit to not correctly performing the machine-reset.
Notice how all the hubs of the ti-walkers (mine too), moon-walkers and flying huts (on the blue barely visible… my god what anodizing fantastic, but who made it???) have a small pointed burr, because of the tool that worked a few tenths too low, respect to zero of the Y plane.
Nothing serious, just aesthetic, or maybe … a type of “signature”
this was going to be one of my questions today… is the vayder better than the walker… really the question was, is it worth trying to track down either walker…
i’ve always loved coming back to this thread, especially now that i have the vayder… i think my time will be better spent on other acquisitions.
The Vayder is better than the Walker.
Thee ‘Vayder’ >is< Better than the ‘Walker’.
The Original Walker is very good…
The Vayder is very, very good.
…If… if I didn’t have a Walker. But had the money to buy a Walker.
I’d buy 3 or 4 Vayders instead.
If I was a collector and just had to have a Walker. Then I’d just have to ‘bounce’ for one to put in the display case.
I’d look at my empty wallet… Then I would stare at the Walker in the display case.
And two minutes later I’d be at least 10 feet from that display case.
Throwing my Ti Vayder; smiling like an emoji.
Because the Vayder is: prettier, smoother, better machined, a more updated performance design and a much better $deal$.
When Jeff finished the Vayders. He not only hit a Home Run out of the Stadium. But the Home Run ball, flew across the street to another Stadium and collided with a fly ball another player had just hit. And Knocked his ball out of that park too😳
There is nothing ‘wrong’ with the Original Walkers.
There is just a lot more ‘right’ about the Vayders.
Sorry I could not be clearer in this matter.
Think if it this way. A pair of identical twin girls.
From 10 feet away, you can’t even guess which one is which?
But one runs faster, jumps higher, jumps rope better, does better back flips and just does everything in general; a little better.
I’ll take that one…
here here… thank you @yoyodoc for reinforcing that
We are in various people here to own both Vayder and Walker and each of us, based on his perception, style of play, experience, will be able to tell you what he thinks.
If your goal is the performance that yoyo can give you, stay with your Vayder, a Walker will not be able to offer you anything more (but even not anything less, we remain objective, it is not the movement of a few milligrams of material or 0.5 mm of gap that can change something crucial.
As for the cost, it depends, there is nothing on the market as convenient as the Vayder … But if you want to take away the Walker’s whim, wait, watch, bargain … Some have gone away at crazy prices.
Mine, used and with two very small symmetrical dings on the shells (almost invisible), complete with a numbered box signed by Health, I took it for $ 190 … In 2015! When he was still one of the most coveted and sought after yoyos. It is not a crazy price I would say.
As for the historical collector value, as I see it, the Vayder will still remain the copy of what is considered by many (me too) to be the best yoyo ever, the yoyo who wrote a really new and important page of this world and which still has to teach something in the area of mass distribution and use of materials. All this is thanks only to the Walker and nothing in the world can take it away from him.
In addition, the anodization of the Vayder is fantastic but the graphics of the Walker (annealing process if I remember correctly) are something unique and never repeated (you should observe closely to understand, they look like a simple print, but they are not at all , because as you can see, they also resist the processes of anodizing or thermal browning.
Walker wrote an indelible story page, Vayder celebrates that yoyo and that story page.
Glad i got 2vaders
(the yo and hand are from a photo @smileypants707 shared)
I only noticed now, my Ti-Walker is # 75, 75x2 = 150, my Ti-Vayder is #149! Fate wanted to have its say!
Huh?
The Force is even stronger than that…
I have my black Ti-Vayder in front of me… Take yours and look at your number. Now double it, add 9, subtract 3, divide by 2, subtract your original number. I sense…three?
That is way too cool, Matt
I have 420…doubled to 840… add 9… subtract 3… divide by 2= 423… subtract original number 420= 3
Well, I’ll be a monkeys uncle🙀
Matt?.. do you Vape string?
Nope, I Vayder string…[cue the Vayderish breathing though helmet sound.]
That… that car is amazing.
Those dual turbo’s… mmm good.
