The secret to winning a yoyo contest in the modern day and age

Well the boingy boing thing could work to an extent, less and less points the more you repeat the trick…yeah I know, serious reasoning on a not so serious statment, hehe.

@ studio-hiroyuki holds the world record for most eli hops in one minute (can’t remember the number) and some guy…I think Jesse…something, did a youtube video of 89 consecutive suicides, insane, hehe.

I just watch the freestyles, I don’t try to analyze them too much, some do look like they are just competing out there but hey maby that is their true style, just pure competition action, ehhe.

Well, that’s the side effect of point based competition we have.
String hits with high risk factor does business way better than showmanship.

Colin Leland got the record at World’s. If I remember right, I think he got 157.

This is, by far, one of the best and most interesting responses I’ve read on this forum in a long time. Thank you.

Wear cool stuff and have like 4 yoyos in your pocket and use the dark magic 2

I wanna see all the CEO’s of YoYo companies have a 1a battle. Chris would probably win…but I’d still like to see them come up with routines and show us what they’ve got.

That could be cool. That would need to be a very exclusive group. That would be intertesting. The winner definitely gets bragging rights and a way cool ego-building trophy. It should be treated like the Stanley Cup where each year the winner’s name and brand gets engraved onto the trophy.

How about a “Ringers” category too. Each company gets to pick their #1(in their opinion) sponsored player in attendance and they compete as well. This can be done with their regular competition entry if need be.

These kind of fun categories would be very enertaining.

I think Ben would win.

I think Kengo Kido (Founder Yoyorecreation) would win over all, just sayin.

I can already see it. Someone in a jail cell talking
-I’m in here because I blew up a gas station and killed the clerk. What about you?
-I bribed a judge at a yoyo contest.

I’m 100% agree with josh this time.

Seconded

I seem to recall the guys behind C3 are pretty skilled.

I didn’t feel like reading this whole thread.

Josh stop being a hater, either play the game and compete to win or just have fun and yoyo, just because Jensen was so successful doing that and everyone is jacking his PERFORMANCE style (not style of tricks) doesn’t mean that you’re forced to do that to win, if Takahiro Izuka (i suck at speeling) or Royta Ogi (yup still suk) put down a clean freestyle they would dominate and they just get on stage and rock, no theatrical ish. If you don’t like the way things are now, then pick up a yo-yo and start innovating and go win worlds. CHANGE THE GAME.

PS you’re my hero, we should hang out again soon

I would choke super hard and get last.

THROW REBEL!!!

Actually, there should be something like that at Worlds for all the company owners. It could be a cool afterhours competition.

I’d love to see the owners show us what they can do, that would be so much fun!

This is basically what I was going to say, hehe. Well put, you can either complain and do something about it or just yoyo for fun…but not both.

But can you go down in style?

It’s not if you win or lose, but how cool you look, right?

Well I pretty much always make it a point to look like a jack(butt), but some people choose to perceive that as cool, does that count? ;D

I’m down for an all owners battle at worlds
