This week we had club (i had a nuts week so I’ve been slacking on my social media posting activities).
@blacklabel9567 you where missed by myself and one of the kids you gifted the Ace to returned with it and his throw is great. Working on AOL and rock the baby.
There where 6 kids this time. Unfortunately my family seems to be less interested then i hoped, silver lining i get to throw more! Kyle is in high school, he’s starting a after school club of his own in the school, apparently he and a friend got on stage at the school talent show and put on a great show, hes got some very good skills, and he actually wants to compete on stage. Always a pleasure to throw with Kyle.
There was a new kid that showed up a well, he is obviously on the spectrum, but when i got the yoyo string on his finger he was throwing gravity pulls and forward passes with ease. I almost got him to grasp planet hops which he seemed to be doing naturally. Amazingly the kid can Kyle really well too! He grabbed the juggling supplies and blew us away with 3 ball combos and 4 balls!
The other kids are deff the regulars and working to improve. They all borrowed yoyos from me again and are working on improving.

I strongly want to encourage anyone to try and start a club. It will surprise you who shows up and what they teach you.

The library told me they will assign a volunteer to assist me moving forward so I’ll have someone there to help teach the basic of yoyo to the newest kids and i can spend more time with the regular attendees.

Next month we meet again. Kyle and I will be at NYYYC contest on Oct 5. Check it out. Details on the NYYYC Instagram page.

A month goes by fast. Super busy. Se la vie.
Looking foward to club tomorrow
430 @ the library.
Was at the NYYYC yoyo contest this weekend so i have a few new goodies for anyone to throw.
Hope to see you guys there.

Update- club on Tuesday was great. Only 4 throwers came but they where on the more serious side of the club so i really enjoyed throwing with them. Kyle came and i got to show/ teach him wrist mount and he showed me his latest trick which i learned from him (a rail combo with 1.5 flurish) i showed him how to add wrist mount from 1.5 and he was blown away. Also Pete came with his son and another girl from 4th grade. Both kids where throwing AOL, forward passes and breakaways… so i showed them how to throw cradel properly (palm up!), and i tried to introduce looping, regen, hop the fence but that may have been too much.
Am very happy to have 6 regulars that are coming and learning tricks, as well as one dad that is learning. Not to mention Kyle (very proficient) , and @blacklabel9567 (expert for sure) that come and throw with us.

Club started in Dec last year, if i can encourage any of you guys to start a club you will not regret it.

Join me on sat 3pm Lynbrook Library.

Or join TaW and learn some cool tricks and elements that you probably wouldn’t work on solo. Throwing with friends is always a good time.

Saturday March 8 @3 pm. Lynbrook Library.

Join us. The club is growing. Granted I’m out numbered by the kids but there are more kids with solid skills showing up. 3 regulars. There are 3 of us grown up with decent skills that show up every month as well. If anyone is in the Long Island area and wants to throw on Sat feel free to come over. If you know anyone that might be interested please pass the info on.

We are meeting this sat 4/26 (later due to the holidays this month) . All skill levels are welcome. All ages are welcome.

What time do you guys meet? How many people typically show up? I recently got back into yoyoing and know nobody else who is into it.

We meet once a month. 2nd Saturday of the month usually (unless there is a holiday that weekend) 3pm at the Lynbrook Library.

This past sat was really great. 2 adults with above average throwing skills where there belong me out. And we had 6 kids with unresponsive skills progressing along. Another 4 beginner kids, 2 of them regulars and 2 first timers. As well as a few parents/ grandparents joining in the fun.
Honestly this last Saturday was fanatic and I’m happy to report the club is growing nicely.

One kid learned Moch5 and when he landed it he literally screamed out with joy. It was so awesome. Another kid was working on plastic whip into gyroscopic flop. There is one regular that comes and I’m trying to get him to learn SpiritBomb. As for the fixed/ responsive crowd, kids are learning basic throws and yoyo maintenance, and I am learning to teach more efficiently so everyone walks away knowing how to throw a cradle they just need to practice, and  :slightly_smiling_face: the beginner regular kids can actually throw cradles, AOL and some can even land a trapeze.

If anyone is in the long Island/ Nassau area please join us next month May 24.
