Finally landed this symmetrical 3a, I have no idea what this trick is called cause I learned it from a Japanese yoyorec tutorial. Also using illegal Japanese yoyos Happy new year guys
I just can’t get over how BA 3a is
3a is so addicting
Yooo let’s gooo! I think this is just 3a brother mount but over the thumbs? Im not sure tbh lol 3a is terrible at having consistent names for stuff. Either way it’s a cool trick nice work yo
Yeah Hajime went over his thumbs in the tut I saw lol. I’m actually working on your triattack to double trapeze tut, the movement feels so foreign still but I just need to put in the repetition. Thanks!
Yooo let’s goooo! It is definitely funky at first for sure! Also an incredibly cool and satisfying trick once you do get comfy with it like definitely worth learning so good luck! Let me know if there’s anything specific tripping you up but yeah it is just hard like focus on just the flip for a second until that feels okay and controlled then just start cutting in for trapeze. You got this yo!
Yeah with the main flip I keep getting a wind around my NDH yoyo instead of completing the full flip out of the string. I’ll try and post a clip when I land it
spirit bomb. that’s one i had to walk away from for a bit. feels good to hit it plus it’s a neat trick so I’m glad to have gotten it this time around
Most aptly named trick ever. When I started, I was running through tricks and had tons of excitement every time I could do something new. Then I ran into Spirit Bomb. Beef Hook is my new Spirit Bomb.
Mark Hayward did a demo at my local library last year. I enjoyed the show and at the end he asked if anyone had any questions or tricks they wanted him to do. This kid that must have been about 15 or so asked him to do Godspeed. Mark humbly bowed out of that and explained the difficulty and the advancement of modern yoyo. I raised my hand and asked if he could do Spirit Bomb. He gave it a shot multiple times and came close, but even world yoyo champion Mark Hayward could not land it. I felt so bad for putting him on the spot like that and apologized profusely afterwards. He was an incredibly cool guy, said it was no big deal and we chatted for a few. But I think that gave me a little bit of confidence moving forward as I hadn’t been throwing as much at the time.
I think I’ll give Spirit Bomb another shot today.
heck yes dude go for it! hmu if you have trouble and I’ll try to help if it’s something i had trouble with as well. this one was harder for me i think because it seems to be more about “the feels” than being able to look and see what’s going on. i feel like most tricks land in one of two camps; tricks you can see exactly what’s happening (or not happening) vs tricks you have to just go for it and if you set it up right and move correctly it’ll just happen. spirit bomb feels like the second type. gl yo
After trying for half an hour straight, I now remember why I abandonded this trick. It’s just not fun. I actually found a tutorial by @LX_Emergency on youtube that gave me some hope at first, but I’d almost rather keep failing at Beef Hook. Haha. Maybe I’ll make a vid here in a bit and PM you.
absolutely! anytime you want
I struggled with spirit bomb at first as well. I think it can just a bit confusing to understand exactly whag you want to happen. This super old andre tut is what had it click for me bc it shows what you want to have happen really well.
Beef hook…now don’t get me started.
Yeah, I wouldn’t even be excited if I landed it at this point. I’m not sure if Spirit Bomb and Beef Hook are prerequisites for other tricks, but they just aren’t worth the time not having fun with my toy to continue any further.
Spirit Bomb I got down without even thinking about now. But beefhook? Each landing takes me like 5-10 attempts and I honestly don’t know what the difference in actions is between landing one and missing it.
Utter frustration
Spirit bomb is just its own trick. The cross arm elements are useful, but the end mount probably not so much for going into other combos. Beef hook is a very useful and common element, especially in competitions. It is a “gunshot” type trick so there are other versions like 1.0, 1.5 (beef hook), 2.0, etc. It also is a useful mount that can easily be built into combos. I would keep at it, but yeah for me it is still not as consistent as I want it. I do find it easier to land from a keychain mount. It might be worth a go if you are struggling with the normal trapeze version.
It’s insane how “simple” it is, but how difficult it is to actually pull off.
