i would argue that a trick in its entirety is the most rigid way to view it. i see combos and freestyles all the time that incorporate familiar elements, but rarely an entire trick. also, elements may be similar enough in technique that one lends itself to learning the other. in this specific case i would cite similar elements between spirit bomb and superman. i have experienced understanding an element of a trick much faster than i would have were it not for the fact that i recognized its similarities with other elements from other tricks
having said all of that, @Blimpin i would say no trick is worth banging your head on a wall for. there doesn’t need to be any justification beyond if it isn’t fun, don’t do it. they are just toys after all
Beefhook took me like 1000 attempts to land the first time and then like months and months to get consistent. Very satisfying trick tho idk just feels good
that looks quite cool too but it’s not quite beefhook. for beefhook you actually need to land into the loop that forms, making a 1.5 mount (or something that looks like it? i’ve only landed it once so far)
Keep practicing that one. It’s a bit of a flashy way to get into brother. Also useful if you have a twisted trapeze as it can sometimes sort that out and still put you into a useful mount with having to untwist.
finally hit revolutions, iron whip, jade whip. ive been slower to approach slack tricks cuz they intimidate me but i figured it was time to start taking some bites outta those cuz they just look so cool. revolutions was a big one that i just couldn’t get the feel for. felt good to finally have it not dismount and spin out wildly
that’s awesome, congrats! also finally landing a trick you’ve been working on is always worth celebrating regardless of difficulty. difficulty is relative and everyone is on their own journey
I had been ignoring velvet mount for a very long time and committed to actually learning it like a week ago. Still got a lot of work to do but I’m really happy to be making progress and figuring out some stuff. Doesn’t seem as ridiculously hard as it used to and that is dope.
