Just like with the clyw peak stuff there will be folks grumpy regardless of what you decide to do. Collectors will grump if you re run the original and kill their investment value (I dislike this part of the hobby personally), players will be annoyed if the collab is wasted on something that isn’t more performant, new folks will complain if it’s too narrow old heads will complain if it’s too wide. All in all do whatever the heck yall want I think you guys are rocking it and the haters will hate no matter what

Soooo true! Everyone wants what they want.

Lets just take an average of everyones idea and see how that works

Old head here to say that unless it’s over 52mm, it ain’t too wide lmao

But yeah… managing everyone’s wants sounds bad and I don’t envy that job lol. Interested in seeing what it turns out to be regardless

An average of all the ideas turns into a boring bland output that makes everyone frustrated . I know this from experience. Design by committee is dumb

Lol that does make sense

a camel is a horse designed by committee

Olympus Mons (sadly my only suggestion to the conversation)

Just because “everyone else” is doing it, doesn’t mean every thing else has to suddenly become wide. Unpopular opinion I know, but I personally do not like the ultra wide stuff that’s been coming out. To be honest it’s kind of getting stale. It’s basically the new finger spin dimple. Everyone has it, it’s not special or unique anymore.

If anyone knows me, they know how much I love One Drop I’ve been throwing them since the original Project was released and it really pains me to say this, I have been kind of disappointed in some of the most recent releases because they have been on the wider side.

The Laguna is the widest release they have done and I just sold it because it was just too wide for me. The same happened with the ds-61 and 54 Gen 2 (I just didn’t like the elongation on this one) - The yoyos plays fantastically and are masterfully built but I personally found them to be too wide for my play style and preference. That’s OK to an extent. They have made 96 (or so) different models of YoYos. So you can’t expect to be happy with them all since there’s so much variety.

The summit was a pretty beefy yoyo and I don’t think it would really benefit from being wider. That’s jut my opinion though. I love the Wyvern because it’s so close to the Summit. I think it would be so rad to see another run of the Summit because it’s such an iconic yoyo. - If OD is willing, maybe they could expand on it and offer a “boosted” version or something for those folks that want a wider Summit.

Perhaps a benchmark / code 1 style of poll could be a thing to help decide what direction to go on the reboot of the summit?

I’ve never thrown a Peak. Obviously, it’s very loved. Wouldn’t changing, modernizing it, altering the specs, etc, make it a totally different yoyo from the one loved by so many?

See Peak 2 for this thought experiment lol

That’s generally the argument between collectors that have x valuable YoYo’s and those that want one. Collectors don’t want their collectible to lose value with a re run but folks also want said YoYo. Many brands differentiate re runs with special colorways or minor tweaks like slight weight reduction or something if that regard so it’s not a redesign but it’s also different enough to keep the original buyers happy.

Like I said earlier with something that gets a bunch of hype there is no pleasing everyone. They just got to pick a lane anc hood it pleases most

Just throwing in my suggestion since everyone’s suggestion is important! Not wide please. 46mm, that may be wide to some though.

I would appreciate a modest width because I would like to daily carry mine on a bloop, would love to have my both my fav YoYoCos in my pocket. My pano is so nice to carry because it’s around 38, not that I want a summit that thin (put the pitchforks down, people).

Fine I suggest we go other way. Ultra narrow. 12mm

While I’m in the camp of preferring a fully new design from a OD x CLYW collab rather than a rerun or updated version of the Summit, the idea of a plastic outer ring on whatever me design they might do would be very cool. It feels very much like a CLYW or OD type of stylistic choice that would fit well with a collab and could result in some interesting play characteristics.

They could do all sorts of stuff with colours and you could either go the Dis Sybil route with a ring or the Dis Obscura/Canopy Fora route with a rim covering (personally I prefer the ring approach). Honestly I’m kind of surprised neither have tried something like this already since it especially feels in keeping with CLYW’s style of doing something out of the box that isn’t necessarily focused on eeking out the most performance.

Not gonna comment on the width discussion as it’s rather tiresome and seems to just result in people putting down what others like…
