Quick question I had bought a summit 7 and I tried to take out the side effects its definitely hard to remove…..to the point that it left an indent on my thumb…..
I’ve had some side effect yoyos like this before direct from OD, not necessarily an indicator of a fake. If you have a seven summit that remotely feels like pyramatte (or you have the box, the boxes the fakes come in are HORRIBLE) you’re likely good, could always post some close up pics of the surface reflecting some sunlight and we could help out.
FWIW I’ve only seen fakes of the colors listed in the post (elbrus, aconcagua, vinson, raw)
Honestly I haven’t collected any seven summits before, unfortunately it didnt come with a box and it also has white pads, i can’t seem to post multiple pictures for some odd reason but maybe through multiple comments

Sit flush or recessed it may be Rso pads
A bit recessed, I can feel it with my nail and you can barely see it sit under
Older clyw models Rso sits slightly less recessed compared to newer I use Rso all the time
My manatee has .1mm recession compared to older models I live and stand by Rso pads

Yoyos have gotten SIGNIFICANTLY wider, especially over the last few years, and now the original Summit (and most OD’s in general) are on the more narrow side by comparison. If you like the width of the Summit/Free Solo… perhaps stick with one of those? Would personally like to see a much more “modern” take on the Summit, which would be making it at least a bit wider. Even adding a few mm would still put it pretty far behind where most yoyos are at these days.

Since we’re throwing around, a lot of ideas here.
I got a few ideas myself
On the new Summit.
Gonna ask David and Shawn, if they could make a couple slight changes on the new release.
I’m going to ask them if they could make the new yo-yo slightly larger in diameter… Slightly wider… Slightly heavier… With a slightly wider gap… And slightly different colors… With a slightly different type of pyramatte finish… With a slightly different weight distribution… And a slightly modified response system.
I’m gonna ask them to call it the Super Summit. It will represent the eighth largest mountain peak that can only be viewed from the nether world between 12 noon and 1:38 PM on Thursdays.
And I’m gonna ask them if they could sell it for the same exact price that the first yo-yo sold for almost 13 years ago thereabouts.
One drop is pretty cool at considering suggestions so I’m sure this is all possible, possibly?
