Stringmaking & yoyos: A deep well of a hobby

You should be able to get like 75-100 strings from one 2,000 yard spool. ( if you like nylon)

You also need some tools, but nothing crazy. Some eye hooks, carabiner, battery powered drill or dremel, tape measure.

The cost comes from the time and expertise it takes to get it just right in my opinion.

So roughly 150 or more strings from 2 rolls which is about 5-8 cents per string of I stick to one solid color each. What length are we talking. Belly bottom to the floor length?

My journey into making strings for the kids at club!

Also big fan of this thread.
Heres my string, which i just twisted up by hand. 5 layers of poly with one nylon. Looks a lot fuzzier than most here. But they play and feel pretty good

Im looking for some wooly nylon for a long time already (dont really want to just order it online). Maybe I will continue that search tomorrow

Yeah pretty much. To make them more of a standard length (~5’) to be trimmed down I use more thread.

To make a 5’ string you’re looking at about 40 yards of thread depending on how thick you want it. That gives about 50 strings per spool or about 12 cents a string.
