Ive tried out zipline strings but found that when used with 2A style yoyos the string messes with the looping action so I was wondering if the string being thicker has something to do with it.

Yep try thinner string for looping. Zipline really doesn’t have any looping strong but that’s fine cause looping string is something your gonna wear through quick so a bulk string like kitty or Sochi thin would suit the style better

Just get some Kitty Regular (Normal), kind of the gold standard. Or YYE Ploy, you don’t need anything boutique.

Just a note, if using Kitty String Normal for looping, get white. The dyed colors are significantly fatter. The kitty white is out of stock on YYE store, but I’ve been using iYoYo Slackies “thin” with great success.
