Spinworthy Flying Lemon - coming early 2025

I talked to some other yo-yo manufacturers when I started considering making a production run and was told that they often do 300 which seemed like a ton to me but hey 48 sold out in like 12 hours :woman_shrugging:

I think you did fine. It’s a new concept that had some potential for skepticism and your last mono metal took a while to sell through so I think your conservative approach was warranted. Folks are just disappointed because there’s a good bit of hype and the notice in the drop was minimal so people felt like they didn’t even get a chance.

All that to say I think there’s demand for another run but I also get your desire to hear a bit of feedback from folks who ordered this run before you pull the trigger

Truly am blown away by the play of the throw crazy low rpm and binds like a monster. Must add love the fact an extra bearing was in there in love with its size. But don’t let that fool you

Piggybacking off this, there were definitely a lot of people interested and hyped about this, for certain, which is a great thing! I didn’t mind a surprise drop so much, because for all we know as well, a countdown could have created a race condition like in the past with other drops, then people would have been upset about that instead.

All in all, I’m excited to hear people’s feedback on the throw as well if it has the potential of leading to another run. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think that when the order was placed, 48 seemed quite reasonable; if not ambitious.

But this yo-yo took on an organic-hype that boosted demand significantly. While @Glenacius_K never really ‘marketed’ this yo-yo; it nevertheless found its way into the consciousness of this community that few marketing or hype-campaigns could rival. This ramped demand made the original order seem inadequate.

Pleasantly surprised I can manage pullstarts and fingerspins on the tiny dimple. This thing rips.

I actually stayed out of this round, because I was fortunate enough to get a B-Grade already, and I saw them flying at the drop, so I wanted at least one extra person to be able to experience the awesomeness. If there’s a second one though in the future, I will not be as kind.:rofl::rofl:

Honestly everyone, I just didn’t realise how quickly this yoyo would sell out. I figured YYE were being quite charitable toward me by stocking my strange, $110 organic monometal. I wasn’t sure that it would actually sell out or be well received. I named it the Flying Lemon for a reason. Looks like I was wrong.

I will look into making more, but only if YYE take the lot of them. Getting quality bearings is quite tricky too.

First impression of the lemon: it’s different. It feels completely unique from anything I’ve thrown before. I’m not sure what it is about it… maybe the smaller bearing? Even when it’s almost out of spin it returns to my hand with a snap! Out of the box it played semi-responsive but I think that can be attributed to the stock string being on the thicker side. It was actually really fun like that but as I played more, it became completely unresponsive. I can hit every trick I know with ease, even elements I’ve struggled with. Anyway, these were just my first impressions from playing with it for a little while. In simple terms, it’s SICK! So far, no sour feelings! :lemon:

My impression was exactly the same. :100:

The simi responsiveness was probably the factory lubricant working its way out even if they wheren’t greased like the first round of bearings I imagine they still have small amount of factory stuff in em to prevent corrosion on the shelf if left to sit.

Thankfully the bearings are so small it doesn’t take much play time to work it out

Yeah, you’re probably right. I have several undersized throws, but none with anything smaller than a d-bearing. I like the MR85 so far.

Not sure why this was a surprise to everyone. It has been talked about for a while and if you subscribed to the thread, you would have received updates when there were posts in the thread. This is what I did. I saw the post that they were dropped and I snagged one. Easy. No surprise.

I’m glad I did too. This is a great little throw. I got to play with it a bit on Friday and I’m really happy with the way it plays. Nice job @Glenacius_K !!

enjoy the throw my friends

I noticed the pads are slightly recessed from the surface making it not snaggy, reducing or almost eliminating ghost binding.
