Spinworthy Flying Lemon - coming early 2025

Glad you like it!

I’ll comment a bit more about the Lemon ‘B’ grade.
It arrived in a small cylinder container. I was initially shocked at how small it was. opening it up revealed it wasn’t really as small as I perceived it to be. Comparing it to my Hatrick it is just slightly smaller less than 1/4mm if that. I’ll say it roughly 50mm diameter.

Included in the package the yoyo was wrapped securely in tissue to land unscathed from the trip across the pacific, including a couple response pads a bearing, string and a couple stickers.

Examining the yoyo I see a hefty rim and thin walls I expect this design to maximize rim weight and give it longer spin times.
The finish is nice as well as a super subtle white SW logo fit on one edge- same as Glens forum logo.

Throwing it so far I have zero complaints. It has a different feel on the sting but I can’t put my finger on what it is. I think the super small bearing maybe keeps it more balanced with less sideways loads to tip it off center.
It binds well and I have not had it ghost bind me yet.

I think most will enjoy it when they land in your hands.

Thanks Glen.

Yeah it’s surprisingly stable for such a tiny flat bearing. The pads bring a bit wide also help with binding at low rpm so you can recover easily with a regen.

I wish the concept of a concaved or grooved mr85 was more of a thing but so far the juice hasn’t seemed to be worth the squeeze on that front as the concave would probably be too shallow to provide much centering effect…

Maybe if the lemon is super successful and Glenn keeps plugging away at other mr85 designs we will get enough to eventually come up with some form of centering mr85. But for now it’s pretty awesome as is.

Yeah I actually asked the bearing factory if they could do that and was told no lol.

I feel like a simple groove should be doable but idk

Yeah I don’t know. Now that I have a box of these in hand, they are so small lol. :joy:

I measured a concave a bearing and it takes it down half a millimeter. If I took one of these MR85s down half a mill there wouldn’t be room for an inner race.

Now… if you made a wide mr84 there would be more room in the middle and then I could see the possibility of a half mill wiggle room.

Am MR85 bearing can’t be grooved or concaved.

I really feel like a small groove like crucial flat bearings would work but idk

The outer race of an MR85 bearing is .4mm thick. You cant go deeper than .1 if you do a groove. You start compromising integrity beyond that.

My B-Grade Lemon came in, and it’s fantastic! Vibe is very minimal in my opinion, no snags or unwarranted responsiveness, and just an overall great player. This is definitely going to be one of my travelers (which will just be replacing my V2 proto Lemon, haha). Fade on this Lime is also top notch, and looks killer while spinning. It’s so fun and unique to the market, I think y’all are going to definitely love these when they hit YYE! Thanks again @Glenacius_K!!!

Mine was unresponsive out of the ‘box’

Same here, sorry, I just meant the V1 protos were slightly semi-responsive, which was fixed with the V2. Since the bearing is so small, I wasn’t sure if the vibe concern with the B-grade might trigger a pull-back with these, but it’s straight unresponsive goodness right out of the box as well still!

I certainly hope so.

Yeah I dont need you scaring people that they are going to get a semi-responsive Lemon.

They are fully unresponsive, everyone.

I updated my post to make it clearer, haha!

After throwing mine some more I don’t feel the need for a center track. It stays pretty flat and the pads are slightly recessed just the proper amount.

I agree with this. I haven’t found the Lemon suffers from the flat bearing. The samll bearing size helps a lot with this as well as the recessed pads as you mentioned.

I find it even outlasts a lot of my bimetals in long combos, which is no exaggeration.
