How fast do fixed-tip spin tops spin? For example, the vintage Duncan Tournament wooden top?
At festival marines they had a fastest boomerang contest. They were using a S8 Love and getting 8000-9000rpm (less than 9000).
But as far as plastic Duncan bearing kings, Takeshi did this back in the early 2000’s (researched by TA0) Getting 7000rpm.

Thanks! I’m guessing the Duncan Bearing King was a ball bearing top. Any idea of the RPMs for a fixed tip top like the Duncan Tournament?

The tip doesn’t make make it spin faster, just longer. The rpm’s would be in the same ballpark, provided you can throw a spinner as fast as Takeshi can

I wonder how they measure the RPMs of the spinning tops.
Some kind of Hall effect setup I’m sure
