Spanish Yoyo Nationals 2010

Spanish Yoyo Association was created in January 2010 by some spanish yoyo players who understood that the spanish community need a push to grow up. I am the president by now, and our main objetive is to “spread” the yoyo all around the country, supporting events and having fun.

Our first important challenge will be organizing Spanish Nationals 2010. The contest will be held in Tres Cantos, Madrid, on October 30th and 31st, in collaboration with the youth association AJ3C and “Ayuntamiento de Tres Cantos”.

There will be 3 divisions:

* Sports Ladder
    * 1A
    * X-Division (including 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A)

But it’s not only a National Contest. There will be also “how to yoyo” lessons for beginners, exhibitions, Olympic Yoyo Games, etc.

This year we will have two international pros with us: Hadrien Bennaceur and Grzegorz Wojcik, aka Plamek. Both are excellent players from HSpin Network, and we hope they can help us as judges too.

Registration for the contest will is open. All the activities will be free to watch, and children under 16 can join the contests. If we have some international players we are planning to make an International Open Yoyo Contest. Obviously, if you manage to come from another country you won´t have to pay to compete or anything. Registration is open, just email us at asociacionespanolayoyo at gmail dot com

You can also join us in facebook http://www.facebook.com/?sk=messages&ref=mb#!/pages/Asociacion-Espanola-de-Yoyo/119965004712079

It will be a great event, would be awesome meeting you too!!!

I have some more news about our Nationals:

  • Finally there will be also 1A International Open. Players from all over the world are welcome. We have some great players confirmed and some on the way… much fun and great prizes!

  • Working with HSpin on a 3x3 Battle like EYYC last year. If we have enough players, it will be done. At Prague it was awesome, hope it turns great in Spain too.

If you want to come, please email us at asociacionespanolayoyo at gmail dot com and maybe we can offer you cheap hotel rooms. Entering the contest is free for everyone outside Spain. Hope meeting some of you soon!

There will be HSpin 3x3 Battle in Spanish Nats!!!

Launched in Prague in January this year, it left half of the European yoyo scene without a voice… because YOU are the judge. You, the audience. Two teams of 3 players perform on stage in turn, and the audience’s from-the-top-of-their-voices screaming is what chooses the winner. Loosers leave the stage until there is one winning team left!

Sign up!
Register your team of 3 players clicking on this link. What you need is a team name, 3 players and a killer slogan:

See you in Spain!!!

Don’t remember the rules? Here they are:

  1. Each team has 3 players; no more, no less.

  2. Each player gets one throw (No regenerations) to impress the audience with whatever tricks he or she can do. In the event of a knot before the yoyo is fully unwound the judge will determine if a player can re-throw.

  3. After a yoyo is brought back to the hand, loses spin or leaves the stage, the next player, from the competing team, throws. If the next player does not throw within 5 seconds of the last one finishing, the judge can call “Delay of game” and he will lose his turn. Turns alternate until all 6 players have each thrown once.

  4. Play is open to any yoyo but is restricted to sleeper-style play (that’s 1,3,4 and 5A). Sorry no 2A, turns are counted by the throw so, sadly, 2A does not fit the bill.

  5. Music is chosen by the DJ and does not stop or change between players.

  6. The winning team is decided by audience noise and feedback as determined by the judge. If there is a draw (noise level cannot be distinguished), then the judge can determine a knock-out task, e.g. throw a trapeze with eyes closed).

  7. Winning teams stay in competition to be matched up against other teams until all but one team has been eliminated (bracket-style) and the overall winners crowned!
