congrats on the back to back stalls! you’ll be doing ping pong soon surely
it was pretty wet, but i hit this one suprisingly quickly! i hit it three times in about 20 minutes but it turns out my camera wasnt recording the first two lmfao. if i can speed this up ill probably be putting this in my routine.
Thanks man! I hadn’t even considered that, any recommendations on learning soloham ping pong? It looks super cool!
Nice combo! I think that would be a great idea to add into a freestyle!
honestly other than this at 0:43 and ryan connoly’s 2024 freestyle idk lmfao
The Back to Back Stalls look sick!!
There are some very cool tricks in this video!!
Oh gotcha I thought ping pong was a different trick, I see the progression now!
Thank you!
Here’s today’s installment of the Soloham September Challenge (Day 23/30)! Not sure what this trick is called but I was inspired by @eatpotaro and this turned out to be deceptively hard to not hit the yoyos during the interception with the NTH
hey nice! I probably have the advantage of using super long string so the rolls are much slower. i think they are called soloham barrel rolls. try hit them into a separation!
You’re progressing very well! The next place I would go is tennis (ping pong) because of how cool it is, but I think you should try your hand at the whips. Anyways, you’re about half as good as me in a twelfth the time. Maybe you need to teach me some of the easier tricks I can’t land, like columns and Cfan. Good luck!
Thanks man I appreciate it! I would hedge a bet that you’re better than you think! I still have a ton of work to do to get even half of these tricks consistent but that’s the way it goes
Ping Pong and/or columns sounds like a good challenge that I might be able to pull off before the end of the month we’ll see. When I eventually figure out C-fan I’ll keep you posted haha
Which whips are you referring to? I didn’t know there were soloham whips but I bet they’d be awesome!
Gotcha, that makes sense! Yesterday you mentioned trying to do the one handed rolls into a separation and I’ve been messing around with that today but I don’t really feel like I get how to do it. I’ll occasionally land it but it usually is because the one handed rolls get out of control and the yoyo falls out of the rolls and onto the other string while I’m trying to move it into position. Thoughts?
i think the key to mastering this trick is the same as mastering the barrel rolls. i guess it helps that i have super longs string, but what i found made it easier is to slowly move your NTH finger and move your TH back as you do the rolls. this means you will have enough time to pinch the string below the yoyo to get into the separtion mount.
for barrel rolls, every time you do a roll, once the second yoyo has come off the string, you need to either take out your finger or let it just slide on the string so it doesnt affect the rolls. additionally, try to “lock” your NTH finger to the TH so it get in time with the bounces. strangley for timing, i just go when it feels right, which isnt helpful at all, but most of the time when i hesitate i usually am too early or late. good luck!
Great tips, thank you!
Soloham September Challenge Day 24/30! Trying to learn the 1-handed rolls separation
Soloham update: from now until the contest, im most likely going to soley practise my combo. even though it hit the main tricks cleanly a lot of the time, i only actually hit the bind 3 times in the couple hour session. any tips to make Rei’s bind more consistant?
Sounds like a plan! What issue do you seem to have during the bind? Is it slipping, snagging, missing the string entirely?
I find that in general, draping the string over my leg and moving it over more gives me a better shot at landing it in the bind and also adds more string into the gap which can help make the bind more likely to succeed. You’ll also want to pull up a bit and then slowly go back down with your throwhand as the yoyo goes into the string to initiate a solid bind, like you would for a 1a bind or a 4a Regen.
If you watch them do the one-handed dismount, they do the rolls with their whole hand so that they can turn it and the yoyo misses the string. It’s easier (and cooler) than sticking your other hand into the loop.
Good catch! I didn’t notice that before so I’ll go back and watch Rei’s video slower to see that motion so I can work on replicating it, thank you!
Here’s today’s Soloham September Challenge Day 25/30! Practicing Stalls!
yeah usually the yoyo hits the string but i guess my motion isnt correct as it never grabs. ill try your tips later today though, thanks!
No problem! The pulling up motion a long with more string in the gap tend to help me the most with my binds so hopefully it’s helpful! Also thicker string for the second yoyo could be an option.
Here’s today’s Soloham September (Day 26/30)! Finally started working on C-Fan! Definitely not smooth but went far better than I expected it would I know this is an easier setup so it may not be the feed the sun or summersault entry but if I can figure this out by the end of the challenge I’m absolutely considering it a win!
