its gotta be an issue with my hand placement. if only there was a way to like, project it with a VR headset or something lmfao
like, the hand placement and resulting movement is way different when Rei does somersalts, its like the hand goes back and forth so that the strings cross so the yoyo is secured inside the string, like look at how he is in 0:30 or when he does chain reaction
Oh that’s interesting! Thanks for sharing this! I didn’t realize it was in this section of the 100 soloham tricks series. I feel like the option where you pop the yoyo up to start the motion looks easier but idk, that’s what I’ll probably try tomorrow when I start working on c fan
Here’s today’s update!
Soloham September Challenge Day 17/30! Almost had under the leg rolls!
yeah, i stil dont know how to do one yoyo toss lmfao. i should totally work on that before trying harder tricks
ignored what i should be learning (one yoyo toss) to learn some ring mount tricks, including a separation alternative
Nice work!
Here’s my update for Soloham September Challenge Day 18/30 with some original ideas!
For your first under the leg soloham video, I thought you were gunna do something like leg orbits with two yoyos, just like in the first video here
I’m working up to that at the moment, but the idea in the first vid was for the bind not the actual orbits
that was a hella sick bind tho
Thanks man! Once I get leg orbits down I’d love to try and pull that off to make for a smooth finish but we’ve got a ways to go
Speaking of leg orbits, here’s Day 19/30 for the Soloham September Challenge! Trying to actually start learning leg orbits.
Kaoru Nakamura also made a great tutorial for them here!
I know you’ll be doing those leg orbits before the month is over.
yoo this is a great resource, it also shows how to do one yoyo toss
Thanks y’all! Yes it’s an awesome resource! @MasonSintateeyakorn told me about it. And yes this shows one way to do the one yoyo toss so hopefully that’s helpful @eatpotaro ! You can also do it with the same motion from your throwhand instead of your non throwhand and I personally find that easier for the standard one yoyo toss but that wouldn’t work very well for the leg orbits unless I orbited backwards which would be a bit weird haha.
btw does anyone know how muh soloham clicks in contests? do you get clicks for the rolls/bind?
You do get clicks for the rolls and the bind but most of the time spent doing rolls and binds would be repeats. I can ask in the Ante discord and see what they have to say. In general what I’ve heard is that soloham tricks score pretty high when they aren’t considered repeats since they are usually high risk and each yoyo is clicked individually I believe, but it can be a lot of unscored time getting rolls under control and getting into and out of the Soloham setup.
In the meantime, here’s day 20/30 of the Soloham September Challenge! Working on back to back stalls and it’s low-key driving me to insanity
thanks for the info, im working on my routine rn and im not sure how i want to structure it.
you progress is pretty insane honestly, you learned this stuff hella fast, you could do a sick routine on the final day. have you got any progress in C Fan?
Nice! You doing a routine for ante? I’d recommend asking on the ante discord about specific tricks and see what they have to say, they are scoring stuff all the time and with Hunter and Justin being in the discord you’ll get some reliable scoring estimates.
Thanks man! I think that would be awesome but I’ve got to work a LOT on consistency before I make a routine of Soloham haha. I may add a few tricks that click with me to the end of my ante freestyle but we’ll see how long it takes me to land that after some of my hardest standard 4a tricks
Not really. I tried it a bit but haven’t really gotten anywhere with it. After talking with Ryan, Josiah and Sean about it they all basically suggested to work on other tricks first and Ryan mentioned it took him 2 years to get C-fan so I’m not loving my odds of getting it in the next 10 days of the challenge . That said I’ll still give it a shot periodically til the end of the challenge but for my own sanity and to enjoy the challenge more I’ll likely work on other tricks and polishing the ones I’ve already learned for the most part.
fair enough, im not doing the routine for ANTE but i guess i could enter if i get a clean take. i plan on competing in the south regional uk contest
Nice! Good luck at the south UK regional and if you decide to enter Ante would love to see your freestyle!
Soloham September Challenge Day 21/30 2-player Soloham!
