Good—I’ll certainly be able to get enough, then. But what about everyone else? What’ll they get?
I’m pasting this from the Acorn thread but adding one more prototype to the list that was not Acorn related.
Okay I’m covering the cost of Steve’s prototypes and will be sending them free of charge. I’m making 8 each of the mini and full size. The order is now paid and in with the shop.
Most of the prototype slots are filled but I have a few open slots.
Here’s the deal for my prototypes. I’m selling them at about a 34% loss in exchange for a handshake agreement that you test them out and provide feedback. No funds are due yet, looking for a commitment that once the protos are in and QA’ed that you then pay. These will be here in about a month or so.
Acorn mini prototype (solid copper mr85 responsive) will be $122 - 0 slots remain open.
Acorn prototype (delrin probably unresponsive c bearing) will be $152 - 4 slots remain open.
G-Wiz aka The G (delrin no jive compatible fixie) will be $110 - 3 slots remain open
Purchasing a prototype has some risk, they may not be as performant as you hope, or be a little rough around the edges the trade off is you get in much earlier and you get a unique version of it, plus if I’m never able to bring these to production you also have the only version to exist lol.
If anyone wants to enter the secret prototype lair dm me, first come first serve.
Gonna buy just for this box
This is really just informational because I’m trying to be as painfully transparent as possible but since the titanium is quite expensive, I made the choice to not include bearings, axles, pads, cost of making the boxes, etc into the retail price. Similarly for the protos I didn’t count the custom axles I had to get made for the G Wiz that cost an arm and a leg.
When I do a run of the aluminum Tardy I will probably take more of those random costs into account then but I wanted y’all to have a price break on that expensive ti.
Haha, that’s awesome!!!
It’s printed with 30% wood 70% corn based plastic. I would not recommend actually packing this with anything for your own health but the stem is hollow and fully passes through. ![]()
I can’t think of a place around here to put this, so here it goes. ![]()
I recently picked up a couple of Sickburn’s ultem bushings. Not a major purchase, I’ll admit, but I’m working into the hobby after a looonnnggg time just doing “throw and catch.” I want to put together some nice fixies but also want to explore the semi-responsive stuff. My first attempt to “fixify” a semi-responsive will be on my Arrow. I’m looking at other options with a strong preference for a Deep State. I had to lay off for a bit due to some bills coming in. Hate that; adulting sucks some days.
But getting back on the hunt now.
Anyway, what I really wanted to say is this:
I am very impressed with the quality and care that Andy puts out! There was a hitch in the process of getting them out to me and they were in touch straight away and even tossed in a delrin blank as a thanks for my patience. The order was smooth, got here quickly and I’m tremendously impressed. They are highly recommended!

Wow I want these I love how your just making it happen
I let Jeremy of RCS fame select the charity to receive the profits on these since it’s his formula. He has selected Empowerthroughmusic.org
I still need to do math on pricing and stuff though before I list them.
Math. I’m looking at bulk packs of 100 strings each and the price will be $18, charity will receive $5 per pack sold.
I won’t list them for probably a week or so because my last remaining doggo, Sherlock, just had surgery today and he needs extra attention to recover.
That’s a pretty blue
They nailed it! I asked them to do one to test and wait on the rest even though it added like two weeks to the production time, but seeing it I should have just yolo’d I guess haha.
I mean two weeks of lost time is worth the certainty but I’m excited that it worked so well
Counterpoint. Waiting is haaaard. ![]()
Wow, yeah, that’s going to be fantastic!
