Sickburn Yo-Yo Workshop Ultem Fixie

I love how the project itself is Not a No Jive, and the plastic brown would be a This is also Not Wood to completely make it a valid non copyright infringement. Mine as well print Wood is Bad on the side lol, or Pumping Plastic

I have confirmed that the patents on the No Jive are also expired as well to be safe.

When are you making a solid platinum yoyo?

FYI did some calculations and mathematically it looks like it’s gonna have to be spikes or orbs for the hardware. I need the additional axle clearance to make it fit together just right. Probably gonna do orbs to start for the prototype since they will be simpler to machine.

My shop can’t do solid platinum I’m afraid but they can do a lot of cool platings. They can do gold plating as well as nickel, teflon, hard chrome, tin, copper, diamond like carbon, and titanium nitride,

Plutonium glow-in-the-dark yo-yo :flushed_face::flushed_face:
You know what they say, can’t say ‘Plutonium’ without the ‘yum’!

See NOW we’re talking! That’s what should be inside the diamond yoyo.

Let’s get some tritium inserts in one of these creations.

Diamond Like carbon isn’t super sparkly necessarily, it’s usually black but is pretty cool and super hard, and polishes up to look really nice.

I have seriously considered this. Mostly for the wild project idea I have for a steel yoyo with interchangeable scales, like micarta, carbon fiber, g10 with tritium etc. that project is gonna be a ways out.

But can they do carbon fiber? Rev G remake time! Rev Ali-G!
Or…real velour… :stuck_out_tongue:

They don’t have it listed but who knows maybe they will do it for me.

For my steel and interchangeable scales I was considering contacting some shops that normally do mostly knives since a lot of the elements from it would be more in their wheelhouse.

Awkward, the brown delrin teflon blend is even more expensive than Ultem. It’s really really expensive :joy: so white it is. I might dye some brown though. I’ve dyed delrin before.

Folks are also welcome to edit their votes now though maybe another color will pull ahead with brown off the table.

I’m still voting white so I can dye it purple!

I love dying Delrin! I did a cabal a while back and it came out lovely.

Also one step at a time here but my adhd couldn’t resist tweaking the design a little to make a lighter weight polycarbonate version for the future.
