Sickburn Yo-Yo Workshop Ultem Fixie

The bearing seats on that look so small

It’s an MR85 bearing so the seats are indeed quite small.

In theory after using the blank a bit to coat the string you could move it to a traditional bearing throw and take advantage of the teflon. This would make the blank wear down a bit faster but would be really cool.

Do you have a link to your shop? I checked your profile but it’s for printable.com lol

I think I have confused google as well

Bro, I was literally just thinking about asking this just a few moments ago :joy: (In fairness, I just discovered this thread this morning)

I don’t think I’m technically allowed to link to it since it’s an external shop, but if you google for Sickburn Yo-Yo Workshop or ReturnBottoms you should find it.

Ahh yes, the ol’ “we won’t stock it, but we also won’t allow you try to sell it on your own” power move :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Yeah I did try to get them stocked here lol. In the end it probably works out better for the community I guess since I’m offering all the blanks at my cost and everything would cost more through YYE.

Finally got an order in for some blanks!

It would have been way less work for you though and I would have been willing to pay more in that case

I’m not gonna pretend to know the ins and outs of retail, but as a consumer, it is a frustrating situation. I just wanna support my YoYo frens.

I got my refund! I’m making a couple small tweaks, a slight additional gap reduction and a small structural change recommended by the new machine shop to improve strength. Then I’ll place the new production order with Rapid Direct.

Awesome I’m so happy they refunded you

Hate that you had to go through that but also, blessing in disguise that you got to make some more minor adjustements

All of the trash grades where sent back right?

I have all the trash grades. They let me keep them.

I’m on the fence about including them like I originally planned with orders though, just because some could pass visually as an A grade and I wouldn’t want someone selling a trash grade in the future to defraud someone

My laser engraver isn’t powerful enough to permanently mark Ultem.

Plus I don’t know for sure these are Ultem. If they are resin like I suspect then they could pose a hazard to someone when broken. Not sure yet what to do with the giant pile of trash grades lol.

I kind of want one or two of the trash grades to be honest…. You could mark near the hub with a drill press or engraving tool
