Hope so. These came from a multibillion dollar publicly traded company so there is recourse and I shouldn’t be out in the cold here. I might try to just return them all for a refund and order from a different shop though as this definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
At the least they could have cleaned up the ultem
And made them look nice. It’s like they didn’t even try….
Now we know why they didn’t reject the order when others did. With no quality control all kinds of money is “saved”. Hope this turns out for the best, been watching this one with much anticipation!
You mean the one that fell down behind the sewing machine 20 years ago??? ![]()
The white cast is from the bead blasting and is normal, but in the gaps you will notice burrs and chunks sticking out sometimes and that is definitely not normal.
I heard back from my case manager that they are opening an internal investigation up and will follow up with me regarding options soon.
Let’s hope they have good options. I would hope they would say keep them and here’s a refund but idk
Their website says refunds require a return so that they can troubleshoot what went wrong but I wouldn’t say no to a refund and keep to try to salvage a few. If that happens I’ll give them away for the cost of string, shipping, and whatever tariffs and taxes I get stuck with.
Imagine being the worker(s) that made these things lmao, that’s gonna be a fun meeting with the higher-ups
Yeah considering they threw out about 50 “bad” ones and these are the “good” ones they sent me. They probably ruined $2000 in materials minimum. A drop in the bucket for a 2.5 billion dollar company I guess so hopefully nobody fights me hard on a refund.
Nah, my guess is the blame falls squarely on whoever made the quote.
Take a tip from the guitar thread and sell them as “relic’d”.
(Sorry this happened.)
They used AI to auto quote it ![]()
Hah! No wonder they’re screwed up.
I’m seriously very sorry they didn’t come out better. I know you’ll eventually end up with some amazing throws to sell to us all, but it might be a longer road than initially envisioned.
Well, there, robit, you gots some ‘splainin’ to do
I worked up the courage and unpacked them all. Final count is 97 trash grades that range from visibly deformed, to gaps as large as 3.2mm, to actual sharp edges.
There were 3 that I would consider b grades and could have reasonably passed a visible qa.
That’s really sad. I hope they make it right.
That’s a bummer, I’ll be honest though I was a bit skeptical about the vendor when you said the quote came in really low.
I had some trepidation but since they were a very large business and not a little shop I thought it was possible they just had better prices for sourcing materials.
I heard back from them and they want me to ship them all to their laboratory for inspection now.
