Mind sharing your foam cutting method?
can you elaborate?
oooh beat me to it in a photo finish!
It’s still not pretty, but I will use a knife to cut a slot on the top, bottom, and sides, using a yoyo as a template. Then I just cut from the edge of one slot to the next until I can pull the chunk of foam out. It’s no perfect circle by any means, but I just need function. Just cutting a square out slightly smaller than the diameter of the yoyo seems to work decent enough, though.
Word. I’ve been using a holesaw with solid backing behind the foam but that leaves a MESS. Circles are solid though.
I’ve heard small cans like the ones that tomato paste or pizza sauce come in work well. You just use the can opener to take off the rim. Then you press and twist where you want to cut a circle and tada! Have now tried it myself though.
I am going to try a star shaped cookie cutter. Press it into the foam on wood, using another piece of wood for pushing to apply a good amt of pressure.
I just finished this. I think i am going to buy another thicker packout and do sideways yo-yos though.
That turned out well! Sideways would be good, you could definitely fit more that way.
I’m just glad it fits my bigger fixies. My FOVs were all too tight.
That’s a shame on the FOVs, they seem like nice cases.
I might make my own case, but I don’t think I’m nearly handy enough for that, lol.
If you try to make one, you’ll become a little bit more handy. Then the next one will be better. Gotta get those experience points to level up.
They are really nice cases. They are just also designed to fit modern performance yo-yos and not wooden fixed axles and stuff like that. I’m still gonna use my two FOVs but for my bearing yo-yos.
Love the pack out idea!
Maybe a wooden box with dividers, like the old Tk heirloom boxes. Always loved the idea of that
Ooh I haven’t seen those before. Gorgeous.
