Show some plastic yoyos you made

I got some custom guts sets from Onedrop in the post for a collaboaration I have in the works. They have a 4.6mm gap instead of 4.25mm. It so much better. Way less grabby and snaggy. I like them here’s a picture of them in one of my Whippets

WoW! I’d love to see pics of these custom guts. Are the much different than the cabal guts?

Is the collab with One Drop!?!

It is not, but it’s gonna be big.

Well received may be a better word to use.

Its going to take some time prototyping though, I’d also like to develop my tooling and methods a little further for this one too.

They have a wider gap, that is all. These ones are for the collab only.

So we won’t see these til 2023. Such a tease. Got my hackles up.

Actually, I found out yesterday that I will be able to set up my workshop in the house I will be staying at, so production will not cease!

This is fantastic news. I hope your roomies/landlord/in-laws know that they’re making a bunch of yoyo nerds very happy, :joy:.

Thank you. I was looking while at work and couldn’t tell on my phone. Looking now on a computer screen I can see it.

What glue/epoxy would you recommend for securing steel axle to plastic? My cheap super glue isn’t cutting it.

Depends on the plastic for low energy stuff like PE you should use primer before glueing. Pressfit is maybe the easiest way to get a secure fit. With ABS you can use glue for plastic models it melts the plastic slightly for a secure fit.

What about PLA? Any Primer/Glue recommendations?

What is the technique for press fit? A vice?

For press fitting you should use a small arbor press. They aren’t very expensive.

Another option is to use a sturdy drill press to push it in.

You need to make sure the axle is around .3mm larger than the hole you are inserting it into.

What plastic is your yoyo made from?

At your local hardware store, you can find something called plastics glue. It comes with a marker that you use to prime each surface first, then apply the glue. In my experience it’s isn’t great for yoyos though, it usually fails eventually.
