Set Screw Axle

How do you know if a yoyo has a set screw axle? ???

This might be a little stupid, but what is a set screw axle? ;D

Almost if not all YoYoJams use a set screw axle. A set screw looks like this:

Other yo-yos such as the FHZ use a bolt and nut axle that looks like this:

Do DV888’s have a set screw axle?

^I would like to know this too. Is it like the ENEME where you need to tune it every time you take it apart?

Yes.

There are ways to fix that.

So how can i tune my DV888 if i dont have a hex key?

You could tune it with the jam nut method instead of a hex key. On the other hand you can buy a set of hex keys at a hardware store for ~$5. You could even give them to your dad for Christmas.

So how do I tune it, once i have the hex key? This is my first time and i dont wanna ruin my yoyo.

How to tune a yo-yo with a set screw axle should have all the information you need. If you have any other questions just ask in that thread.

like once I tune it could I permanently fasten the axle to one side so its like a regular yoyo?

That is the idea of tuning. Tuning, if done correctly, will keep the axle from floating between the two halves.
