School and junk and stuff. Advice/Experiences etc.

Lol, no problem, dude.

honestly, it’s hard to tell. I didn’t really find out until after High school ended. And you’ll realize who was using you and who really cared about you. But whatever, you know, just move on.

I think what’s important in this case is just to be there for them. They are free to choose to try alcohol or drugs, and you shouldn’t judge them. Some people are naturally curious to try these things, and I don’t think is a bad thing. But I do think these things should be under control. And I think it is important to talk about how you feel about it with them. If it does start to affect their personality, then you should let them know that you don’t like the way they’re acting, and stuff like that. Just be the best friend you can be.

Lol, yeah, like I said, you shouldn’t be embarrassed to do what you enjoy. I got a lot of flack from people because I played Yugioh, but I had a lot of fun with it, and the people I played with were cool people. It was enjoyable to me, and it helped pass the time, and that’s all that really mattered.

I think just telling people “it’s just not my thing” or “I don’t drink” is enough, if they keep at it, just ignore 'em. I totally understand, if you don’t want to talk about something and someone is constantly trying to talk to you about it, it’s just rude. Even if it’s not constant, it can be annoying. You just gotta take this type of thing in stride.

Advice: Talk…a lot. to teachers, to friends, to other students you don’t know very well, to whoever. Talking is awesome.

i was all my life, till i had the dumb idea to try public school, and wow… Worst decision of my life

Middle school- this dude always trys to fight with me even though i am a foot taller and way bigger he is so puny and he punches like a girl XD i dont want to hurt him so i just stand there :stuck_out_tongue:

ERS is fun… I suck at it.

We played poker a couple of times at lunch last year. Principle was cool with it. Vice principle, not so much.

Yeah, I sunno what’s up with school administration not letting people play card games. Like I get not wanting people to gamble, but honestly, if someone’s gonna gamble, they’re gonna gamble. No sense not letting them play cards…

me and my friends play casino in study hall(quietly of course)and the study hall teacher is fine with it and so is the principle, but then the vice comes in and bows a fuse!

My advice - Stay away from women. Pay attention and try and find some sort of interest in everything you learn, or twist it into a way that it appeals to you.

Experience - In grade 8, my “new media” teacher got me into video editing, I started on cool edit, little did I know that this would consume my life, by grade 10 I had worked all summer to buy my $1000 copy of Final Cut Studio and start filming biking. I was so focused on biking and video editing that all my grades dropped (i’m talking 60% for my best classes, and just lower from there) At this point my life consisted of my girlfriend, my bike, my video camera, not in that order. By grade 12 I was skipping 95% of my classes, I never left the school film studio, I only showed up to exam days. I had moved out and was living with my girlfriend and about halfway through the school year I dropped out. 2 months later, my daughter was on the way. Because of dropping out, I skipped around from job to job, had no career, no life plan, and by 2 year ago, I have 2 children. I dont regret anything I did, I learned alot about my life, myself, and about society. I wouldnt change a thing. I have 2 amazing children, im in school now finishing up my journeyman’s ticket and Red Seal, but if I could go back, i would have payed attention in school, I would have finished, and I would have tried to pass everything to the best of my ability. Thats just my $0.02 and if someone can learn from my mistakes, then good.

On a side note, im to lazy to look but someone said something about you get taught stuff you will never in your life use. School covers all bases, I hated trig and I used to get into argument with my teachers saying no I wont do this and I wont learn it cause when am I ever going to use it in my life, will I use trig when im buying groceries and figuring out how many miles/Gal i will get in my car, NO. But little did I know, I need to know those basics for my welding. I did geomatic engineering for 3 years, that is 1000% math and boy was I kicking myself for not just shutting my mouth and learning it. So I guess what I’m saying is you may choose a career that never uses some things you learned in highschool, no, I know for a fact that you will not use some things you learned in school and they will be lost in your brain, but some people will, and the things you might love in school other people see as useless cause they will never use it. It goes both ways.

The thing I hate about middle and high school, is that they teach you what they think you should learn, not what you want to learn.

In my opinion, your entire curriculum should be centered around something you enjoy. Like for me, Video and film production.

I think you should still be able to take electives, but this way, you’re being prepared for a career, and you’re enjoying it, because it’s something you choose.
