My $1 bearings are kind of a hot seller. Anyone have any bearings they find hard to source or overpriced? I’m putting together a new order with the factory and wasn’t sure if there was anything folks are having a hard time finding and would appreciate a reliable and affordable source for. Greased and sealed A bearings? One dollar 10 ball unresponsive flats? Half specs?
Putting together an order with the factory. Figured I could poll folks informally and see if there are any struggles I can help out with. I don’t think I can get U grooves except for C bearings but anything flat and either unresponsive or greased and rubber sealed is on the table.
The laser engraving on the bottom side is hilarious and ingenious! I don’t think FD even thought of that haha! So many possibilities for cool artwork for translucent yoyos.
I agree the engraving looks so cool through the caramels. I also love that your using stem kits. Did you just do a custom order with FD to get them? I haven’t seen them instock for a long time. I thought maybe they stopped making them. They were great to experiment with in 3D printing. I have D and C kits but would love to get an A kit.
Yes, I contacted Arthur directly and ordered 100 C bearing stem kits! He is like super busy and traveling a lot, so some correspondence with him took a little while. I love the stems! They are what got me into designing yo-yos in the first place, my first design used stems.
I’ll show you the render then. It only exists right now as a cad sketch and render. Probably gonna prototype it in a month maybe? Maybe sooner idk. Whenever the itch hits.
It’s named Chicken Pot Pie. It’s big. 60 mm diameter, 53 mm width. 61 ish grams by my estimate. Maybe a little heavier. Intended to be an unresponsive focused Ultem follow up to the Dirty Caramel. It has big ol fat ultem rims.
I was thinking of doing like a chicken sketch on the hubs and doing a pie on the underside of the stem seat to show through, surrounding the chicken.
Wowsers! This would probably get me over the line to fork out for the ridiculous postage cost to Australia, and finally get a Sickburn throw in the collection! Up that to definately over the line if was available in a sub 50mm width! Keep up the good work Andy!
I kind of like this one a lot. I’m not really a big fan of anything plastic. Kind of just stick with the metals but I think this one might be my first one.
