Since some folks have reached out and asked me about when they can pre order That B (the Side Effect B bearing design) I have to share an update here to set expectations. OD reached out to me proactively and killed the project.
If I alter it so that it works flawlessly with stock SEs without modifications they will still not approve it. Their approval is a requirement for any kind of production run that uses SEs and they will only approve of standard width C bearings. No exceptions.
The design will eventually carry over to another system that is not SEs. After all I still have a mountain of silicone brake pads.
Figured I should inform folks so nobody is waiting expecting these to eventually become available.

The European Union introduces new packaging and shipping regulations starting tomorrow that as far as I can tell, I have no clear easy way to comply with, and would cost far more than the 2 or so orders I’ve shipped to the EU since opening shop so I have had to turn off EU shipping options. If you are one of the two folks in the EU who have been my customers I am sorry! Non European Union countries like the UK will not be affected.

Why call themselves a union if you need individual agreements with every member state?
AFAIK new legislation is being drafted right now, and some members will delay enforcing anything rather than let their food imports fall below requirements over a packaging and waste dispute.
Long term you’ll probably have to phase out things like the leopard print tape for brown paper tape and save the plastic wrapped candy for US customers only. And somehow make it clear that the printed display boxes are part of the item and not the packaging when they decide on the new wording, because the new rules apparently will include display cases which just doesn’t work for jewellers, instrument makers, or anyone who makes high end anything

Yeah I tried to look into it and it sounded like I would have to also hire someone in the EU to act as an authority for me, register individually in every single member country, and contribute to recycling programs in each country. Like I like recycling and I’m not here to make a profit lol but hiring a representative seemed like it was going to cost way more than it would be worth.
Hopefully it’s kinda like mostly panic and things shake out better so I can turn shipped to EU members back on.

I imagine a company that’s in logistics already will find a way to act as that person for an additional fee and shipping will continue but with another hand in the pot. That’s the usual path forward with stuff like this

I truly hope I can get one of these. They are just so freaking different and drop dead gorgeous!!! I think this final iteration is about to find a place among the greats in yo-yo history. By now you have a whole storyline of the development process. The trial, the flop, getting back up, dusting off, trying again… all the way to now.

I only have enough to include them with the yoyo right now. The yoyo itself will be $77 including the counterweights. If the yoyo does well I can order more counterweights to sell separately though.

Thanks! I went through so many iterations on the counterweights before I found a design that blurred the line between a peach and a traditional counterweight shape, and was also physically possible to machine

I plan on picking one up, I keep a trash grade caramel in my bag which ive gotten to be a half decent player, so Im excited to see the evolution
Hoping for a successful run or to snag counterweights from people who dont want them

That’s a solid idea. Some folks might want to sell or trade the counterweights.
I’ve seen the trash grade caramels spread all over and it’s really cool to see them get so much play time and life! I’ve also seen some get broken and repaired in creative ways.
Makes it really feel like it was worth all that time and money on the trial and error!
