So I just got a recess snack yoyo and sometimes it comes back up without a bind. Every time it does this there is a hissing noise, so I’m not sure if something is wrong with the bearing or the response pads. Any advice appreciated.

Sounds like something possibly got In The bearing. Have you tried cleaning it?

This is just what I was thinking. Likely something in the bearing. Cleaning may help but sometimes replacement is all that works. Give it a good soak in alcohol and blow it out with air (watch your eyes) and spin it hard a few times. If it still does it, you’ll probably need to replace it. If you ask what a good bearing is, you’ll get many responses but at that point…anything is better than one that has become responsive.

I’ve heard of this happening but I have yet to find an unresponsive bearing that’s acting responsive that I can’t get back to unresponsive with either a soak or the paper cleaning method. Luck of the draw, maybe?
