Prices are getting out of hand!

God bless you, that’s the info I was after. Thank you again, for real.

Are you suggesting you have the ability to discern the chemical composition of machined finished yoyo?

For what it’s worth the made in America YYF throws feel different too imo. It’s not a brand thing.

They are finished differently!

Oh and there is more soul :innocent:

Definitely figured this was a huge part of it, thank you. Would love to see them finished in a similar fashion overseas if that is the only common denominator. Probably a pipe dream, but I’ll still gladly buy regardless (just got a flight pro today, absolutely amazing.)

Another one I would have bought if there were more of the green.

I think someone should make a run of yoyos, half of it being done fully in the US and the other half in China and then do an experiment to see if people can determine where the yoyo comes from. Then we can finally have a definitive answer to end this discussion about US-made yoyos being better than China-made ones and vice versa.

I’m guessing most of the perceived quality differences is just cognitive bias.

They did, look at earlier run 888s to newer run 888s. Slight changes to the CAD, but for the most part, anyone that has played with both could answer your question to the best of their ability. Only problem would be that it’s just their perception. I perceive the older runs to be of better quality, but someone else could say otherwise or that they are the same quality.

You are way off here.

I’m assuming by Newer Chinese 888 you mean 888x came responsive as beginner yoyos. It was narrower, higher wall and designed for totally different buyers. The same buyers who returned 07 888s because they didn’t come back.

When we went back to the same vendor that made the original and created the classic in 2012(?) they were perceived as inferior to the 07. I personally built both runs. The classic were in no way inferior other than by legend.

We did a bunch of machined in China anodized in USA yoyos that had made in usa halves mixed in. The finish and results were indistinguishable.weight size play feel…

So does this mean the 888 is making a comeback ? Full size bimetal 888 ? The 999 lol ,. Og spec 888 bimetal?

The legend is greater than the yoyo. In the past 3 years we did some yoyos that referenced 888 but I’m not sure if we will go back.

What did I say that was way off? I referenced a change in design and that some would prefer one to the other or see no difference at all.

Regardless, I very much appreciate you breaking down the 888.

I would love to know if it was the same aluminum stock used on the half China, half USA. If not, that kinda kills the whole thing off and it’s just a mental thing.

I’d love to see a 666. October 31 release date, Sweet fire-themed splash ano, opens a portal to Hell when it spins… I mean I’d buy one.

The latest 888s were made in the USA, as were the earliest. There is no linear relationship to origin.

Yes, good point, I should have kept it as USA made to China made 888 and kept a timeline out if it, as a timeline seems pointless to the question at hand anyway.

I tried the veggie chicken nuggets from KFC last week. It’s true that they look like deep fried erasers, but they taste pretty good.
