Portland Oregon Shrimpgang Skilltoy Jams

I’ve been meaning to start a thread for our Portland based skilltoy club, Shrimpgang PDX! Yo-yo, kendama, juggling, astro-jax, diabolo, footbag, or whatever else you want to bring! All skill levels welcome.

We meet once a month, usually on Saturday from 11am - 5pm, and occasionally on Sunday for the folks who work Saturday. In the summer months we rotate through a list of beautiful local parks, and in the winter we move indoors. Our usual indoor spot, Lloyd Center Mall, is on the verge of being demolished, so we are in the process of finding a new winter location.

In July we host the annual Skill Toy Island Jam on Elk Rock Island in Gladstone. We will have a handful of mini games and challenges with some great prizes from our friends at Onedrop, and Recess!

The remaining 2026 Schedule is as follows:

Sunday June 28 - 11am - 5pm - Laurelhurst Park
Saturday July 18 - 11am - 5pm - Elk Rock Island
Saturday August 29 - 11am - 5pm - Overlook Park
Saturday September 26 - 11am - 5pm - Cathedral Park
Sunday October 25 - 11am - 5pm - TBD Indoor Location
Saturday November 28 - 11am - 5pm - TBD Indoor Location
Saturday December 19 - 11am - 5pm - TBD Indoor Location

Dates occasionally shift, but this should be pretty stable.

I will do my best to keep this thread updated with flyers for jams, but you can also follow us on Instagram at @shrimpgangpdx for any updates or location specifics.

It’s almost July, and you know what that means!

Return to Skill Toy Island!

Saturday July 18
Elk Rock Island
11AM-5PM

Hone your skills and get ready for some mini games, treasure hunts, and killer prizes from our friends at onedrop, Recess, and Rose City Kendama!!!

Elk Rock Island is a beautiful park in Milwaukie, Oregon. It is technically an island, but is accessible by foot via land bridge when the water is low in the summer. Carpool if you can! Parking is limited. Park near Spring Park on SE Sparrow or Lark Street. Be mindful of driveways and such. Pass the train bridge and the playground, then follow the trail in Spring Park down to the island. Please DM if you have any questions, and show up ready to sesh!

Flyer hand collaged by collage master Zoe Jones.
