Polish

I was told I need to semi chrome polish my yoyo. Can this be done with a drill or do i need a lathe and experience?

Get a buffing wheel for the drill and polishing compound. That’s it. I’m guessing your YOYO is already raw?

Like i don’t have to spin the yoyo? Just buff it out? And no, it’s not raw.

I don’t use a buffing wheel. I use neverdull. No need to buy a buffing wheel and polish. Just the polish. It’s a bit cleaner too. With this you need to spin the yoyo though.

Now the fact that it still has ano on it causes a problem. You need to chemically strip it first. OR sand it all off. If you sand it off you will need to spin it in order to keep things even as to not create vibe.

*Unfinished definition: These yoyos do not come with polished interiors or with special edition packaging. Use a little elbow grease to polish the inside up yourself if you like! Find some semi-chrome polish at your local hardware store, apply to a rag, and buff the inside. BOOM! DONE! YOU SAVED $65!
This is what it says on the website but I feel it’s never that easy.

Oh, the SaveDeth G&E4’s?

I think they blasted the catch zone or something…is it blasted?

Nope no finish, I got mine Christmas and it eats string and I talked to Seth andnhe said just get semi chrome polish and polish it! I’m like how? And was just confused

take a leather belt and rub the catch zone for a bit.

Id rather learn how to polish it so it feels better and doesn’t smell like alluminium

the leather belt won’t make it raw, it’ll just even out the finish. Polishing is more for nickel plated/raw yoyos.

So if you really really wanted to do it… you’ll need a drill. Hook up your axle to the drill, or use a separate screw to avoid messing the axle up, spin the yoyo quickly, and then take some sandpaper, around 150 grit, and use it. Then use finer and finer sandpaper until it’s nice and bright. Then grease/polish I guess… not sure how that would work.

Personally, I use “steel wool” to polish my yoyos. It works pretty well for me. It is very clean and inexpensive.

Nah I just got Mother’s Aluminum polish and used a terry cloth like it said. It worked. I was only polishing the engraved part thats why i didn’t need to strip the ano.

Well that would have been good to know at first.

Yeah it would have. I didn’t know either.

Ah. Well it’s all good now.
