PiF - Riforgiate Design - RippleDrop

Hello team… Yes, Ti Ripple Drop is in my possession. @Lotaxi knows how I feel about it!!

I was gushing a bit out of the gate as it fits just right with my playstyle. I wont need much time with it as I already know its a winner. I will however, post a more detail review once I have a bit more playtime. Well played, Gregg!

OMG. I knew the RippleDrop was going to be light, but it’s LIGHT. I wasn’t expecting it, threw super hard, and was rewarded with a RippleDrop to the side of my head.

It’s SUPER fun in a way I wouldn’t have thought such a featherlight would be! A softer touch, and it’s wonderful. Rejects super well!

Is this 6061, or 7075?

I think it’s time to move on! I ended up with two Al’s, so I’ll be reaching out to @Cmchappell97 and @Captrogers as I believe they are next. @Lotaxi please let me know if that is incorrect.

As for my thoughts; I loved it. Certainly not for those who prefer them heavier. But if you like it light, WOW is this fun. It feels like playing paddle with a balloon, but more aerodynamic. It threw me off guard with how fast I could make it move. And it’s more powerful than you would think, I could get through a minute long combo no problem. I am curious, would a bimetal version be possible? How about full steel?!? That could be nuts. Very excited for the Ti.

I do believe you are correct! That means that @rkalajian forwards to @washyjoshe

Thanks for confirming!

I don’t see why not, but I’d be curious to know how you find the Ti in comparison and whether you still think it would be an interesting thing to do. I think there’s room to test it out, especially since it would entirely solve the issue of rim weight vs hub weight and make it considerably more stable.

OK, team! This yoyo is legit! Here is an unedited, too long video to show you how much fun can be had, lol. Sorry, I’m too busy/lazy to edit. Ti Ripple Drop by Riforgiate Design is right up my alley and If you know General-Yo Torrent, Ripple Drop is the Ti version. We have a major old school feel with this one with hints of Dressel Designs, Oasis. @hobbygod

The weight blows me away. At 61.6g I cant believe its that light (had no idea Oasis was almost as light, 62.9g. Torrent is 66g.). Ripple Drop plays closer to 65-66. I tend heavier and this one has me thinking… yoyo physics are so complicated and awesome.

I’m so excited to own this one when it becomes available. Gregg has agreed to convert my late run Queen Bee to a Ti and Al Ripple Drop. I’m so happy with my first run Queen Bee, I realized I didn’t need a second, so I asked if I could get the Ti Ripple Drop in its place. He says, “I’ll send you both”. What an awesome gesture! Thank you my, friend.

I play ZS Air by Zipline pretty exclusively if you’re wondering. Ripple Drop bearing has been cleaned and lubed and I think it has just the right amount of audible feedback. It rings pretty! Gregg has a note in the box for vibe and I’ve already mentioned to him that its not worth mentioning. If you’ve play OD side effects, its about that amount, ever so slight nail vibe that wont make it to the string.

Fun throw and Ok, I gush… This PIF is ready to move. I think @Cmchappell97 is up next. Hit me up with details and I’ll get it out.

Cant wait until I get mine. Also very excited to try the Aluminum super light. I think it too is going to be forever in my collection.

I just realized @Cmchappell97 is gonna be the first to be able to offer a direct and simultaneous comparison between Al and Ti

So the ripple al arrived with me the other day and it’s interesting. 40g is light. It’s very cool and the unique enough I would totally get one lol. It feels like a tin yoyo from the 90s reimagined as a modern decent throw if that makes any sense.

I brought it to yoyo club (dmv throwers) this weekend and there was some mixed thoughts. Everyone thought it was neat and cool. A few folks instantly were like nah this is too light weight and put it down. A few folks kept gravitating toward it. A kid kept doing a simple bind cause he loved how it sounds cause it has an almost hollow feel and ping to it when the string snaps at it which is fun. A few others just found it fun cause it plays fast and feels like it floats almost.

Overall the al is in the realm of a tad too light and not enough rim weight to make it work out without it sometimes coming at your face. (Thankfully not as scary as an 80g throw) everyone who tried it was very interested in trying the ti version when it comes my way

does anyone have a yyf 44 (2021) to compare the al one to?

Yes actually I do and I have the al version atm

I actually have the 44 444 and 45

Way higher rim weight to midweight ratio on that, so I’m kinda curious too

Received the Al one from berv today. So stinking fun.
