ordered more strings and the bearing! very excited!
Thanks so much for the detailed feedback! I’m super happy to hear the bearing is spinning like crazy and that you’re enjoying the Snugglies!
I actually test every single bearing by hand before it goes out to make sure it meets the Pea Soup standards. Since they run completely dry and unshielded, some are whisper-quiet while others have a bit more chatter, but they all go through QA to ensure top performance. Enjoy the bounce on those floaty Atmos!
Thanks, hope you will like it.
Any string recommendations for a first order? Love to support Canadian but don’t really understand what the difference is between each blend. Zs.Air is my favourite string right now.
We’re actually working on clear, side-by-side spec descriptions for the shop right now, which is coming soon.
To help you choose, here is a quick breakdown based on playfeel:
- Silky: Swift, sleek, and smooth. Offers a fast, solid feel that performs exceptionally well in humid environments and holds up over long sessions.
- Fleecy: Our softest blend overall. Delivers absolute finger comfort without sacrificing control or play quality.
- Downy: The most “poly-like” feel in the line. Combines the familiar rigidity of polyester with the plush comfort of nylon—the best of both worlds.
- Wooly: Our bounciest string. Highly elastic and textured, making it ideal for interacting with slacks and exploring floaty, unique movement.
- Snuggly: Super bouncy and grip-friendly. Perfect if you prefer tight, snappy binds and a very responsive feel.
Top sellers: Silky, Fleecy, and Downy are the most popular starting points, but color and personal preference play a big role!
If anyone else in the community wants to share their favorite Pea Soup blend and why, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
So from what I’ve played you will absolutely want to be snagging atleast one silky. Downy plays sorta like silky but is more springy and holds the loop around your finger less, hence why I myself love silky. I used some of the others wooly is fun and pretty playful, fleecy is one I haven’t strung up much with recently. I have silky and downy strung up on my yoyos and for the silky it jist feels more lively and more springy. I just really love silky in a way I can’t properly explain. It feels phenomenal to play with. It’s nice to go between stock poly to play with silky and get the beat of both worlds this way. It isn’t standard but it plays about as great as you’d want a string to play.
Hey everyone,
I’m writing to share an important update regarding Pea Soup Strings and shipping to the United States.
As many of you know, the U.S. administration has officially imposed mandatory 50% Section 338 tariffs on goods coming from Canada. Because these punitive trade measures directly hit Canadian-made products—including our handcrafted strings—shipping costs to the U.S. have jumped dramatically overnight.
Rather than closing our doors to the American community entirely, we have decided to keep U.S. shipping active, but our checkout rates now directly reflect these new mandatory U.S. import tariffs.
What this means for U.S. orders:
- You can still order through the site normally.
- Shipping rates at checkout now cover the required 50% U.S. duty and carrier adjustments.
- No surprise fees upon delivery—what you pay at checkout covers the mandatory tariff imposed at the border.
We know these prices are steep, especially on smaller orders. These tariffs were imposed on us and on you by the U.S. government, not by Pea Soup Strings. But for those who still want to support our artisan strings and bearings despite these political trade shifts, the door remains open.
Thank you to everyone in the community for understanding the situation and standing by small makers through this mess.
Best,
Chef Lynx - Pea Soup Strings
I was checking you guys out earlier and 9 strings is $27 but with shipping it’s 21 extra so 9 strings shipped is $48.00. good luck with your future sales. All these regulations do is hurt business and consumers
Dang that is awful to hear, best of luck going forward, I hope this drops soon. Absurd.
This is bad for us Canadians too when you ship to us. It’s both ways. It really sucks with all these tarrifs when it hurts everyone and helps no one
I completely agree. It’s frustrating for small makers and consumers alike. Thanks for checking out the shop, and hopefully these regulations get sorted out soon!"
Thanks, also hope this will drop soon.
Yeah, this commercial war has to stop. We are neighbors we need to get things settled.
