Panorama vs. Diorama

I’m interested to hear from anyone who has had thorough time played on both the panorama and diorama. Which do you prefer? What are the big differences?

As someone who probably has more Panos and Dios than anyone besides Tsukasa himself lol, here’s my take on both in a previous similar thread:

It’s not everyday a topic comes up where I feel like I could talk about it endlessly, but as one of the most vocal/resident Pano/Dio lovers on the forum, and someone who owns way more of both than I should, I do feel like somewhat of an expert on this by now lol.

I’ve written a lot about the differences but I feel like this post I made awhile back perfectly encapsulates how I feel:

Besides the pretty obvious weight reduction and zippiness you mentioned (which are two of my favorite changes), the Diorama feels MUCH less dense to me. Panorama has what feels like a lot more center/mid weight, whereas the Diorama’s weight feels quite a bit more evenly distributed to me… or at least, distributed better somehow. The Panorama, a yoyo I would never even think to describe as “clunky,” somehow almost now feels “clunky” in comparison to the Diorama. And a big factor for me is the change from 6061 to 7075… I’ve seen some people saying that 7075 has no real noticeable difference over 6061, and I could NOT disagree more. Not only is 7075 a hell of a lot more durable than 6061, but it has such a much more “premium” high end feel to me. I have always felt that a yoyo designed in 7075 feels slicker, smoother and higher quality than its 6061 counterpart, and that definitely applies for me here as well.

With that said though, I’d say I like them both equally and use them interchangeably. Totally depends on my mood. Panorama is the OG tho and I’d recommend that as a starting point maybe. I really hate using the term soul to describe yoyos, but there is a weirdly nostalgic aura the Panorama has, dare I say soul (), that I don’t quite feel on the Diorama, despite knowing it is probably the BETTER yoyo of the two. Maybe it’s just nostalgia from the era I grew up throwing in (late 00’s-early 2010’s), idk. You can’t go wrong with either but I say try the OG, and then try the “souped up version” later. Another small note worth mentioning - the 7075 of the Dio will be more durable than the Pano’s 6061 - I’ve got way less damage on some on my Dio’s than my Pano’s despite doing similar… things… to them.

Like, the Pano is the daily driver and the Dio is the sports car that I’d like to go racing in sometimes and belongs on the track.

Dang! Thanks so much! I got a pano a couple weeks ago and it’s quickly rising to the top of my list. It’s definitely one of the funnest yo-yos I have ever played. I was wondering if it was worth it to pick up a dio or if they were similar enough that I’m not missing anything with just the pano. I think I’ll have to see about getting the diorama one of these days.

I play my Panorama’s the most. The Diorama feels lighter in play. @SR1 said it best, it feels less dense in play. But I’ve got all of mine setup slightly different from each other too.

I think my favorite of all of them is the very first proto Panorama which I believe is around 1.5g heavier than the production Pano. Since I first got the proto Pano I think I’ve played them more than any other unresponsive yoyo, they’re right up there with the YWET for me. In fact the Pano to me feels like a modern YWET.
