Why wouldn’t you vote?
I’m a sponsor of the event and I personally know a couple of the competitors so wouldn’t want there to be any conflict of interest. I’m still following this just wont have a vote, I only feel its fair.
Update on the voting:
I have created a Survey Monkey poll that has text fields for your votes (1st, 2nd, 3rd). It also collects your YYE username, but that information isn’t necessarily tied to your vote. People will be able to see in the public statistics that you voted, but not what your vote was.
The only way it makes sense is to accumulate points. I don’t like the idea of a huge spread between positions, so I propose simply:
1 point for 3rd
2 points for 2nd
3 points for 1st
At the end of the vote, it goes in rank order. It hasn’t occurred to me until this very moment that I need a tie-breaker mechanism, so before the polls are tallied, I’d love some opinions from people who have done this sort of thing before.
Could be trick-based still (a single 15-second or less banger with a second round of voting); could be an extension of the voting period to wait for enough votes to break the tie; could be anonymous sponsor vote (I will ask the sponsors to break the tie, but you won’t know which voted for who).
In an ideal world, it would be a “combine and split the pots” thing, but the prize allocation simply won’t work for that. Can’t split a Valor up in any sort of effective way. 
If we’re extremely lucky, there won’t be a tie.

If you do go third party voting will people outside the forum be able to vote? At that point it’s just a popularity contest… Whatever you feel is best, in no way would any mature “old folk” feel you would “rig” the votes anyway. Nothing to gain and only friendships to lose, you wouldn’t we all know that brother Do whatever is easiest, KISS… Always Keep It Simple Studly #seewhatididthere
Weeeeelllll… unfortunately no matter what, we have to rely on our voters to go with the best practices we advise them on. Plenty of forum-hosted contests have been accused of being popularity contests, so I don’t think using Survey Monkey would change that. Requiring a YYE username is admittedly more fragile than having someone actually log in. But I think by and large we’re an honest bunch around here.
If others would rather I just accepted the votes here, I’m fine with that, though. Nothing’s set in stone yet. It won’t be a difficult thing to make a spreadsheet for the vote count and plop in the votes from PM.
Just did a quick tally. Video contests are notorious for last-minute entries, but right now we stand at 10 people in Division Two (it’ll be a real battle!) and only 2 in Division One!

Uuuuuuuugghhhh… I hate being this guy more than I hate almost anything, but I’m going to extend the deadline a little bit. I just realized that I didn’t even mention some of our biggest sponsors on my social media “enough”. :-/ That’s really weak on my part considering what they’ve put up.
Enormous apologies to the people who have busted their butts to get their videos in on time; of course feel free to make a new edit in the remaining time if you really want to!
I just can’t in good conscience wrap it up without a few more mentions for the sponsors. I think Sunday at midnight is a decent new deadline. Also gives people another weekend to get a video in.
I’m so sorry, folks. Hopefully the early entrants (which includes myself!) won’t be too cheesed off.

I can’t believe there are only 2 in the 1 year category. Last year that field was much bigger. Hope some folks come in with last minute entries.
I just read this, when is the deadline?
New deadline is July 6 at 11:59pm EST. So the end of Sunday. If you sneak it in before I get up in the morning, there are probably pretty good odds that my eyes will dart back and forth and I will go, “Let’s juuuuust put this in the ‘accepted’ pile…”

So happy!!! I was just fussed at by Mrs. baconNeggs for not consulting her on my choice of string color and clothing! String was a little hard to see in the first 20seconds (yeah yeah but she’s almost always right)… I’ll be sending a new edit soon Greg
considering I was the oldest person competing at MWR this year by at least a 5-year age-gap (how on earth did that happen?!)
I’d feel qualified to weigh in as “officially older than most of the whipper-snappers” and “happy to judge a tie-breaker”
as I’m not as interested in doing a video to battle, but if I can judge people - you know I’m in! ;D

Oh man, even though I barely could quality as one of the old folks, I may have to throw something together, make that < 1 year division a little bit better-populated.
What do you guys think? 26…old compared to the average age on the forums, but not very old…
Just saw this and am glad for the extension. Back home Saturday.
So I played as a kid (Duncan imperials and butterflies), fixed axle cheap ones on and off but picked up 1A in March this year.
I’ll be joining the old folks with little experience group.
I’m 33 y/o so the old qualifies.
Looking forward to this and going to see my first contest in Chicago in 10 days.

Entries have been coming in thanks to that extension… maybe I should give all the old codgers 2 months to get their videos ready next year.
