Od Summit2 vs crucible

very hard to choose.

It’s my first od site purchase

Which one more powerful?

I can’t found any review of od crucible

Crucible is a proper modern monometal that feels dense and powerful but still maneuverable.

Summit2 is a chill throw thats a bit of an old school design. quite cool because of the collab aspect.

Choose whichever calls more to you

The Crucible is quite a bit wider and OD’s first 7068 Al throw. The Summit 2, as the other poster mentioned, is more old school dimensions and is made from 6061 Al.

Powerful? Definitely the crucible, its a wide, powerful, performance oriented throw

Grab an NQP Gold Crucible while they’re still around. It’s a great discount and it’ll play the same as any of the non-NQPs.

The NQP Fulgur is a steal for sure

Does anyone with both of these have also a Kamuraiju? If so, where would it fit in along side these 2?

The Kamuraiju is smaller, with a less rounded/hourglass shape - doesn’t really feel like there’s much of a comparison

I think I mean more in play. I have a Kamu and know how it performs and I was just wondering what the comparison would actually be. Aside from shape and size. Perhaps more… how do they differ?

I’d be interested in a Kamu x Summit 2 (and maybe OG Summit) comparison. Both are on the smaller side of full-size, both are more laid back fun yoyos

I would say that the Kamuraiju is smaller and “boxier”, is angular in the hand where as the the Summit 2 is a rounder, bubbly feeling in hand. On string, I think the Kamuraiju feels a little more “sporty”, where as the summit 2 is out for a cruise, if that makes sense. Both do lend to a relaxed play style I think, I do not have the skills to really push them tho.

Honestly looking at them you can kinda get the idea of how they will play vs each other. They don’t have anything to hide so to speak

It’s so hard to write about play feel imo haha.

For me:

Kamuraiju: Intense due to its size, power and angular profile. Feels right at a higher pace and in more technical styles. For no reason I can really point to, one of my least played One Drops.

Summit 2: Comfortable and balanced. I have never played the original Summit or the Leaf (or many full sized CLYWs), but I love the Chief/Leaf-inspired profile and I think it plays like a modern One Drop (maybe because I wouldn’t recognize the CLYW pedigree). Good performance, but can be played at a relaxed pace without feeling underutilized. Narrow by current standards but definitely full-sized due to the diameter.

Crucible: The one I would pick for power/stability. Modified Top Deck profile with every other aspect upgraded to modern standards (without making it 55mm wide). Still comfortable to hold, but always feels like it wants to be thrown hard. 7068 aluminum has that 7xxx Pyramatte feel, which is not my favorite to handle, but it looks beautiful.

I think anyone who enjoys yoy-yos could find something to like about any of these, but I don’t see a lot of direct crossover appeal. None of there are particularly similar, nor is any head-and-shoulders above the rest. I wouldn’t want to narrow it down to one.

Thank you for that. There’s obviously differences in them is what I’m interested. I want something else but I don’t know what it is. It sounds like the Summit 2 might be the one leaning in that direction. Thanks for the responses.

I thought my Crucible had a coating on it from how sticky it feels, much more so than most polished yoyos. Maybe it’s just the humidity we have right now.

It’s a very very good yoyo though, to me it stands out more for what it is than the Summit 2 does. I think the Summit 2 would be a bit more Chief like with heavier SEs but I haven’t tried yet.

Edit: To me the Freesolo is the best Summit adjacent yoyo and they go for well under $100 on the BST, criminally underrated imo

Pyramatte is really sticky sometimes. It’s different on every unit. Mine feels like smooth plastic but it’s metal which is weird and trippy.
