Od Summit2 vs crucible

Same. It reminds me of 7075 One Drops, but the plastic-y feeling is even stronger.

I don’t find the 7075 ones very plastic-y, except my Boosted Rainier perhaps. But again, I think the finish is just a bit inconsistent.

I have also found that Pyramatte in general can vary.

I have heard that color can also be a factor. Virtually all of my 7075 One Drops are clear.

Interesting. Anyone else have a really sticky DANG2??

It has to be the ano not the pyramatte though right? I have other polished and lightly tumbled yoyos, none are sticky like that.

If the surface is the right shape it will grip your skin, making it feel sticky. Unless the anodiser really screwed up, the surface texture should be caused by the finish.

Does anyone know if NQPs have any difference in terms of the pyramatte? My crucible is definitely stickier than my ds-61, but I’m not sure if this is normal variance, a crucible thing, or a NQP thing.

It also just looks shinier  Loving them both in any case!

Lol I was thinking this but the NQP is because of the ano, and they’re tumbled before. 7068 is just that much tougher than 6061.

I have some 7075 yo-yos that are polished or are a shiny variant (vs. blasted), but the machined texture can still be felt. I.e. they have reflective, sometimes mirror-like finish, but there is still an audible “zip” when dragging a fingernail across the grain. I have never found this with Pyramatte for any material including Delrin.

The non-Pyramatte yo-yos tend to feel like regular metal (and grind better, if still not well).

I assume it comes down to the relative hardness of the metal and how it interacts with the tumbling media.

I think it’s a 7068 crucible thing. Mine is the same

I have both, and the finish is the same.

I’m telling myself that this just means power transferred to the yo-yo on the throw.
