New Mod Idea- Removing Center Weight

Would it work if you just took a drill, and drilled out holes? The holes would have to be right across from each other to avoid unbalancing, but would that actually work?

Good idea, but it might completey mess up the yoyo’s balance, so I wouldn’t risk it.

You mean like the Radian Super Light? If you could get it perfectly spaced out, that’d be awesome.

While you are removing centre weight, and it will change the feel of the yoyo, having more weight in total will result in longer spintime unless the yoyo is already designed with this inmind.

Actually, having more weight on the rims is more important. As any physics guy. If you have more weight in the center, it’ll work ok, but not that great and won’t be very stable.

However, if you overdo the rim-weight, the play will become slow and sluggish. It’s all about balance, which most companies aim for in their design. You can try messing around if you want though. In any case, it will definitely change the play of the yoyo.

I know that mate.

What im saying is just REMOVING the weight, instead of MOVING where the weight sits, will likely not help.

Just randomly punching holes won’t have any major impact… you’re removing weight from the total, not really shifting it.

If you added weight on the rim to keep the total weight the same, it’d make a much bigger difference.

Mr. ‘physics guy’ …moving weight away changes things depending on what direction you are moving it. Moving it ‘away’ on a horizontal axis makes it less stable… moving it away on a vertical axis makes it more.
