Introducing the Netrunner – the next evolution in competition design from YoYoFriends.

Originally conceptualized as a candidate for YoYoFriends’ 9th anniversary release, the Netrunner quickly proved to be more than just a celebration model. Built to push the boundaries of modern competitive play, it combines refined dimensions, cutting-edge material construction, and signature performance tuning that redefines what a bimetal can be.

At the core of the Netrunner is a powerful and stable bimetal design featuring YoYoFriends’ first use of a 7075 aluminum body paired with hollow stainless steel rims. The hollow SS rims—an engineering first for YoYoFriends—shift weight distribution to maximize spin time, improve float, and boost control, especially in horizontal play. Despite its wide 50mm body and a bold 58mm diameter, the Netrunner remains nimble and fast, never sacrificing acceleration or agility.

The dimensions are modeled after the fan-favorite Ultracut, maintaining the ease of landing complex zoning tricks and long combos, while amplifying performance with a more advanced material setup. The result is a yo-yo that feels powerful in motion, yet deceptively light on the string. Designed for peak stability, excellent control, and extreme consistency, it hits every metric a top-level competitor could ask for.

Prototype testing revealed exceptional results. YoYoFriends players James Heder and Stephen Madden both switched to the Netrunner during its development phase, taking it to the stage at PNWR and beyond—with Stephen qualifying for finals with a nearly flawless prelim and James placing 7th in his first 3-minute freestyle. Since then, James went on to win the Northeast Regional (NER) 1A Finals using the Netrunner, further solidifying its status as a true competition machine.

The sleek, understated aesthetic hides its competition-ready core. The hollow stainless steel rims give it an elegant profile while packing the performance necessary to dominate on stage. Every element has been tuned for performance, power, and poise.

Inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the name Netrunner reflects the yo-yo’s cyber-enhanced performance—like hacking the competition meta with raw power and precision.
Also available is a special Stephen Madden Signature Edition, celebrating his years of dedication to Team YoYoFriends.

The Netrunner isn’t just another bimetal. It’s the future of competition play.
