To answer the original question, lube the bearing, replace the string, and tighten the gap.
buy yyj thick lube! its what i use. just put some on the o-ring.
Putting the oil on the o-ring is not what you want to do. The oil needs to go into the bearing and nothing else.

oiling the oring will not make it more responsive, if anything it will make it slightly less responsive, oiling the o ring will inturn impregnate the string with oil which can deteriorate the string leading to a string snapping an you Dark Magic flying away destroying itself as it smashes into the ground at a million mph
I suggest double-wrapping the string around the bearings.
