It is normal and will clean up in time. Throwing a good breakaway is for sure a skill that takes a bit to develop. There’s a vid that gets reposted regularly that focuses on this, someone will likely share it

This has got to be one of the most reposted videos on here… [How To Throw A Yoyo Breakaway (Like A Pro)] … but, if your shoulder/arm is hurting from throwing breakaways, you need to work on your technique. This video should help. The trick is to whip the yoyo like a ball-and-chain instead of power-throwing it to the side. Your arm will thank you.
